Buddy - it got picked up a few minutes ago so you should see it by Wednesday,,,,

Very nice unit, no doubt.
At the risk of sounding dumb, what style would you call that knife? It's been many years since I was into Buckskinning, but as I recall, knives similar to this were refered to as "Riflemans Knives" but I never knew if it was just a catch-all phrase or what.
That beadwork is beautiful!

Again thanks -

Uncle Alvah - Like the term bowie - the term rifleman's knife takes in a lot of scope. This one is even by the strictest definitiona rifleman's knife.

This story of this "set", this knife and sheath along with it's companion pipe hawk, is one that started out as an eastern set circa 1778 without all of the beadwork, etc and then went west - circa the 1840's it got decorated as shown.

Now the U.B. Forge #s 1 & 2 are united - companion blades. The Ugly Brothers (Mark Williams, Chuck Burrows) with significant contributions from Chuck's wife, Linda, have created a couple of really fantastic period pieces: A pipe-hawk and a rifleman's knife, both done up in style. Here they are together........click to enlarge.

I made this image out of doors in diffused late afternoon sun. I resisted the temptation to highlight the rich colors using photoshop, opting instead to present them as accurately as digital imaging can (which, of course, falls way short of what the human eye can see.) Ugly sure is beautiful..........

Buddy - it looks great! I like the natural look you got - and you were able to even pick up some of the variations in bead colors I wasn't able to. Nice job....

And just to keep things straight - my wife Linda does not come under the umbrella of ugly - but these two guys do....

You guys are too cool! Hey, what's our next project gonna be?

You two do great work, but I am uglier that both of ya put together :D.

That's just to damned funny Stephen. My wife laughed outload and said. "ya know, he's not too far off from either one of you." :)

We can blame stuff on the new guy , Add him in the middle of our poster. He can be our brother that holds all our offshore accounts. :)

Wow!!!

What a stunning looking piece...Rugged looking and calling for me to use her, now!!

Keep up the "ugly work", it's beautiful...............

Here's a little different look at just the Rifleman's knife and its sheath. What I can't figure out is how come it didn't turn out UGLY?
