U choose

Well, I don't have either one, but I've been looking real hard at the trail hawk to do some customizing on. I just really like the blade shape. It looks like it could be a really cool hawk with a little work.

I have the Frontier, Rifleman's, and Trail Hawk. Of all the Cold Steel Hawks, I find the Trail Hawk to be the best by far, at least for my purposes. The Rifleman is more like an axe than a hawk and way too heavy and awkward for it's stock handle. The Frontier looks very traditional, but I find that having all the weight on the front side of the handle makes accurate chopping more difficult. The Trail Hawk is small, but very well balanced and suitable for most anything you would expect from a hawk. The thin blade, properly sharpened, does light chopping better than heavier thick blade hawks. And as a defensive weapon (just my opinion), a light hawk is much superior to a heavy one. Bonus: in my area, the hickory nuts are starting to fall and the poll on the back of my Trail Hawk is the perfect cracking tool. My bottom line advice, both the Frontier and Trail are cheap, get um both.
