Hello all! I just picked up an interesting old U.S.N. mark 1 colonial knife and leather sheath. The sheath looks like it could be original and could tell some INTERESTING stories, it has a burn mark thru the back and also burned the blade, in the same spot, when the knife was still in the sheath. The sheath looks to have protected the knife thru some serious use. It looks like the fighter has marked the knife with an X.
Can anyone give me information on this knife? Can you tell the age my the maker's marks?
To me, in collecting these older knives, I appreciate the ones that have history instead of new never used, like anything well-used utilitarian has a story to be told in your imagination if you have some relative information. These fighters that actually used these were heroes with the American spirit
Thanks so much for your time
