Have the opportunity to buy a KA-BAR that is marked "U.S.N Mark 2" and "Camillus, NY" with a hard scabbard. Obviously used, but in good condition. Is $75 a decent price?

Why ask if you should buy a used Camilus for more than the price of a new kabar in The KA-BAR subforum??

No disrespect to you at all my good sir, just that the natural response is that you will be just as well severed with a KA-BAR :D

Unless if course it is WW2 issue, then I'd jump on it.

Whether it's worth it or not is up to you, if I had the spare cash lying around and were in the market for a MK2 then I'd probably buy it just fir the the fact that they won't be making any more of them old camiluses, but I wouldnt go out of my way to snap one up.

Value, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Depending on the condition, heck yes. I'd buy it right now if I had the funds and it was close by.

I collect old Kabar and Kabar patterns, regardless of maker.

Yeah, I'd get it. Then get you a new MK2, so you can play with one and put the other up.

It will be a WW2 knife. That's the only time when they were marked that way. Lets face it there isn't a 1219C2 sub-forum, and people do tend to call these knives KA-BAR's regardless of who made them. I'm with Moose, you'll have one to show off might as well get a user for yourself.

Sorry, I don't know much about knives and the gentleman wanting to sell it is highlighting it as a KABAR and with those marks. He did mention WWII or Korean War use, but he wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

I agree with others. It sounds like an oldy and that's a good price. Snag it! Then get a modern one for a user.

Don't apologize, I was just having fun with you the KA-BAR thing. Most people refer to this style knife solely as a KA-BAR.

Even I said that I would buy it if I had the cash to spare, especially if it's WW2 which Sactroop says it will be (I don't know much about that stuff but i think he does).

I'm just not jumping through hoops for a Cammy MK2, unless it's WW2 ;)

Go for it.
