I had been resisting the Karambit for a long time but finally gave in on the anniversary of UBs birthday, and nailed it down. To my surprise it arrived this afternoon.
This one made by Vim is well balanced, comfortable in the hand and easy on the eyes. At a 3/8 inch at its widest point along the spine this is a beast, quite capable of the necessary task. It came sharp enough to slice through a paper bag and with a little time and effort it will be a razor sharp talon.
I really like this one and can see possibly starting a collection of them. If you have ever thought of getting one I suggest you do so its a real pleaser.

Sweet snag - those karambits are definitely something else! Typical speedy shipment too! I managed to shark the 18" Vojpuri of the same deal... sadly, there was confusion with the payment and mine didn't ship until the 25th. With Aunty having left for vacation, I'm not 100% sure if it actually managed to get into the mail :(

So, you're the one that sharked that.

Been looking for one with a satisal handle, and it gets sharked while I snoozed. . .;)

Really neat! Like that wood handle on it. Got a question for the experts - how does the HI Kerambit/khukuri combo handle when compared to actual SE ASian Kerambits? I'm pretty sure HI's version is going to be heavier, how about that ring - can you put your thumb/finger thru it and use it comfortably? Don't know anything about using this kind of weapon but find it interesting. Thanks!

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but the HI kerambit is probably a good 3/8" thick, which is a LOT beefier than actual SE Asian Kerambits (I grew up in the Philippines, so I can attest to this). I'm not sure how this exactly works out, as the thin-ness of the original kerambits actually helped in it's sheering capacity... this is something someone with one in hand would need to explain :o

As for the hole, it is big enough to fit a finger into - at least that's what I've been able to see from the pictures.

.

Looking at mine once again I realized that I had added in a bit of the bolster, making it a bit fat at the top instead of 1/2 inch it is indeed 3/8 inch thick. My humble apology.

My Kerambit has an american elk handle. Lovely knife and it does indeed get exceptionaly sharp. One versatile little sharpie.

I tell you this, I was more than just pleased with my H.I. Kerambit. I'll probably be sharking another soon enough.

You know, the HI kerambit would make a perfect pistol-knife. The angle would be perfect for a .380 single-shot barrel just over the blade.
