This was a UBBB for April 5. I got it last night. What service!

Anyways, I just wanted to comment on this knife. Simply put, its great. The handle is a work of art. The buttcap is brass, with a little round spot of white metal in the center as decoration. Although the handle is quite small, it happens to perfectly fit my hand as a three finger knife, with the little finger curling underneath, which I actually like in a guardless knife.

Its paper cutting sharp and well polished. The blade is well overbuilt, but thats part of the charm of HI stuff.

The sheath was a surprise. Probably the best one I'ver ever got from HI. Its a dangler pouch style sheath. The knife sits deeply in the sheath so it won't fall out, but its easy to retrieve. I think it would work well putting it on the back of your belt and slipping it into your back pocket.

I posted a couple days ago a thread about "buyer's remorse" and just want to note that the only remorse I ever had about HI stuff is not buying it.

Thanks very much for the knife Yangdu.

Sounds great.

There is always a remote possibility that some of the States antler came from my area- the small amounts we've given Bill from time to time. So I always get a kick out of hearing about it.

I know what you mean about knives without a guard.

Isn't the round spot in the center the end of the tang?

Maybe, but if I recall, usually the brass cap covers the whole end of the knife. I got home late last night and didn't compare it to any of my other HI knives\khuks. It sure looks nice.

Welcome to the antler JKM-1 club, Shann:)
Those of us that were lucky enough to land an antler handled JKM seem to really love them. I take mine with me to work on days that I know i'll have to do a lot of heavy cutting to do. You're right about the dangler sheath tucking away into the back pocket. Mine rides perfectly behind my checkbook. Great snag:)

I got my Kumar Karda yesterday too. What a great knife in every way. The handle carving is really well done - not slap-dash like in a tourist knife. The handle, which I always assumed to be straight - like a puukko - is actually slightly curved downward and the spine of the blade has a subtle arch. Very nicely done. Even the sheath is kinda cool. It isn't a small knife - another surprise - almost a foot long!

oh yes, the Kumar karda is awesome. Im pretty sure it could chop well if you had to!
Its not a little knife. Its a full-sized knife and probably all any camper might need.
A very nice addition and everybody should have one...

Really glad you like it, Shann. As I said in that thread, a little dispapointed I didn't get it, but woulda felt worse if you got it and werne't happy with it. Will be a great little knife for you. Make sure to put it through it's paces

Very nice. I have several with carved handles and none of them is as nice as that! Great snag!

DOH. You're all right. Serves me right to drink a few beers before examining a new knife  Don't know why I hadn't noticed that before.
