This is Sanu's heavy weight version of the HI AK Bowie. It is 16 inches overall length, 9/16 thick, 2.75 wide and weight near 2.5 pounds. If you like big this one is for you.

Sanu has a very good fit on this one and the finish is magic stone mirror. He has the blade hardened up to near 60 Rc and it is sharp but not quite razor.

The scabbard is made by DanK and although a bit unusual in design is very functional and done quite nicely. Maybe Dan will be around to comment.

We will deliver this heavy duty AK Bowie to your door for $145.

Call or email if interested.

What a great way to bust up some kindling this winter - look stylish by the wood pile with this rig!

'Course, being from Miami, my knowledge of kindling is limited to the winter reruns of Campbell's Soup and Hallmark Card commercials on TV. I've got my B&T lashed to an outrigger and poking gators that float too close to the porch - we had 14" of rain since yesterday.

Cool looking scabbard like you said, Uncle Bill

Hi Bill,

Wowwww...Hmmmm....Oh! It's a beauty Bill. Damn the exchange rate. I like it, but will have to pass on this one. Hope it finds a nice home.

May your dreams live.

Hi All,
This scabbard was designed for long term and safe carry of this or any other heavy hybrid Bowie knife.
1)There is over .25" of wood around the point of the blade.
2)The scabbard is fitted to that knife, snug, but not tight.
3) The belt loop is canted about 10 degrees forward to aid in the draw speed.
4) It's a highride sheath and sits tight to the body.....and....
5) The tip is rounded, both to minimize snagging on brush, etc.
6) The retaining strap(over the blade) is more to keep crap out of the scabbard than hold the knife in.
7) That copper thing is a sort of hook that fits under the strap that is sewen on the front of the scabbard, in leu of snaps, studs, etc. It works OK, but it would be better if the strap was stiffer, but this was the only leather I had and the scabbard was to be a proto type.
8)A fella at the Reno gathering wore this thing for about 2 hours and almoist forgot that he had it on. This is in part because it doesn't dangle and flop around. 2.5 pounds needs to be stable.

I haven't had the possibility of reading the forums as often as I would like to, so I gotta ask, what does UBDOTD mean?

Hi Bill,

Where is the balance point on this thing? It would be a really cool giant fighter blade. Could it be incorporated into knife fighting practice? Most importantly, is it still available?

Rekat, it looks & sounds like almost a twin to mine so I thought I'd help Bill out a bit. The balance point on mine is right at the cho, a bit more than an inch in front of the handle.

While it is not a lightweight fighting Bowie, it is not an unwieldy sledgehammer by any means. Since the balance point is so close to the handle, I never get the impression that it is trying to get away from me. It provides good control, allowing me to stop & change direction in mid-swings.
