Here is a 10 out of 10 UBE, 18 inches, 2 pounds, made by one of our new kamis and his work rivals Sanu or Kumar. Whoever this guy is he is very, very good. But, the blade is not marked because this kami has yet to be assigned a mark. The fit is wonderful, the finish is magic stone mirror plus a notch (maybe the best finish I've seen to date!). He has the edge hardened up to 59 or 60 Rc in the chopping area and it is plenty sharp but not quite razor. The handle is excellently done in saatisal and has the Chainpuri style buttcap that looks machine made. A little larger than normal and feels great in the hand. Also has the HI habaki style bolster very well done and nicely fitted. I can't find a single thing to complain about and that is unusal for me.

The karda and chakma are excellent and handled in hill walnut. The karda has a finish equal to the big blade -- very nice!

The scabbard was made by the sarki with no name and is top quality but no tooling and no tip on this one per design specs. (This was a special order for Fausto but he is presently on the high seas and we can't figure out how to get the khukuris to him. We will reorder for him when he gets back stateside). Frog is HI superfrog.

UBE fans this is the best one I've seen yet and it can be yours for $150 delivered to your door. This is a best buy from old Uncle Bill. Better grab it.

Call or email if interested.

Words fail me. That's one good lookin' knife.

When my total number of pending orders reach a serviceable (reduced) number, I'll take something like this. But right now...

Pakcik Bill --- This UBE has bothering me since I saw it in your thread: UBE blem by Sanu. Pix and bargain time. Save $60 http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum53/HTML/000608.html ... and now I saw another one which is lighter than Sanu's version! It is 2 lbs ... my maximum weight limit which I can handle tolerably!

It looks so beautiful ... it looks as if it is the reincarnation of the very very old version ... the 1st customised version of Kopis at the very beginning of it's appearance in Nepal ... and they called it as KHUKURI!

I guess sooner or later ... I'll ask you to make for me a slightly lighter than 2 lbs of UBE Sanu's version ... OR ... should I do it now?

Forumites --- do you have any suggestion?

Have the kamis ever thought about making a "kumar kobra" version of this knife, Uncle Bill?

Bill,

What do you think the feasibility would be for making a UBE, overall length being 24", blade thickness 1/2", width being 2.5" to 3" to provide a longer edge bevel, and with fullers like the Gelbu special to reduce overall weight? This one might appeal to the falcata/short sword clan AND the big kuk without the big weight clan.
