I may have a chance at a local trade for my new, never used whopper size Rambo III knife. This thing is heavy and thick.
Trying to decide between the Ontario 7 or BK9 as a possible trade. The knife will serve as double duty -- one just for something BIG looking, and the other is some ocassional chopping. Any thoughts?

Are you sure it's the Rambo III bowie, or did you mean the solid full tang Rambo 4?

I have a Rambo III that I've never actually used, but I love it's design, and its size and feel. I say get it, use it, and let us know how it holds up. (I'm curious how much abuse it can take too)

Also, some people may tell you that is mall-ninja junk or something, but don't listen to all that. Sure it's not made from high end super steel, but it's perfectly functional. And yes there are surely other knives that will out perform it, But it is a bad a$$ knife with a very nice level of finish (for the price) So if you like it don't let anyone talk you out of it!

I've seen the end resolute of the first three Rambo knives being used as choppers, you won't be impressed.

So it depends on what you paid for the Rambo III. If your into it for around the cost of a new BK-9 or BK-7, which seem pretty evenly priced. I'd say do it. The Becker may not be as pretty but it will serve you better in the end. I'd go BK-9 but it's personal preference.

Good luck.

i am not entirely sure if 420-J2 stainless steel is what anyone would want for a chopping tool which in this case, also happens to be a hollow ground blade.
i am on the other hand convinced that the knife in question makes an excellent conversation piece or pieces if it goes off the wall.

It's a movie prop and show piece and
not going to prove a good user for the
job of camp knife. It's a neat knife best
used while on the couch :)

I will be happy to give an update when I either trade it or use it. Cost me about $80.00 which is I think pretty close to BK-9 price.
I have seen the Rambo on eBay lately for around $85.00-90.00
Thanks for the input everyone.
