Try this one on for size. Been trying to post it for a couple of hours now. Had a big write up three seperate times and I get the server is busy signal and lose everything. So I'll see if I can get the pic on first.

What you see on top is a titanium handled folder. The ti handles are each .170" thick. The blade is 4.0" long and .152" thick, though KnifeCenter list it at .125". It is ATS34 steel that has been cyroquenched. The liner lock is .087" thick, nested in the titanium handles and held in place with two large screws that screw in from the outside of the back handle. Done so that the heads are flush. The fit and finish is OUTSTANDING. When I first saw a pic of this I figured it was all looks and no go, but that seems not to be the case. This a real handful of folder and you know how I like my folders big and beefy! Everything about this knife shouts top quality to me. The thumb studs are also bladestops for the open blade. Inside the handle is another blade stop for the closed position, a nice touch. Five purple, and I mean vibrant purple standoffs join the two handle halves together and give the knife the solid feel of a solid backspacer.

I'm really impressed with this piece. It has everything that i normally look for in a carry folder. Even the HD logo's and graphics are subtle to the point of not being the least bit gaudy, and the rubber insert sticks out enough to give you a firm grip. This is a Fred Carter design that has been put together with some quality materials and by someone who knows how to operate a CNC machine and knows what CAD stands for!

I'm going to enjoy carrying this one, and I never thought I would carry a United Cutlery brand's folder as an EDC!  :D :)

Smaller version called the Wolfpup, HD45. Don't have any specs on this one.

I feel your pain Art, you are not alone. I just posted a thread Here about that very thing. This server has come to a sheer crawl over the last couple days, and the worst part is, there aren't many users logged on when it happens. About every other click to view a thread, I have gotten that message, and when I don't get it, it takes for dang ever to load. I feel for those of you without broadband connections.

I know, I know, a UNITED CUTLERY!!!???? Hard to believe, but even harder to believe is that this is a UCB knife. I hate to sound like a snob, but United brings visions of flea market cheapies. This is the exact opposite of that. I SWEAR!!!

Btw, this knife has a MSRP of around $250.00:eek:   , and can be had on the net for around $150.00. It should be high quality for that price!

I recently handled one of these and have to agree with Art. The fit and finish were outstanding. I believe they also have a version with aluminum scales. The titanium version was much nicer.

Once again Dennis our views are one and the same!!:D

I know how I can go on and on but I have been thourghly impressed by this knife. I don't mean for this to sound like an ad for them but the knife is very nice, and VERY beefy!

What I've found with Fred Carter knives is that when they first come out that they're an outstanding knife, but when they start really cranking up production they also start cutting corners. The Carter/Gigand knives when they first hit the streets were an outstanding knife for the money. Hopefully the quality will keep at this level and maybe...just maybe...United Cutlery will move up a couple of notches in the cutlery world...

I know what you are talking about Burk. The Carter/Gigand line of knives are built in the same mold of the WH knives.....THIN and LIGHT! Both of which turn out my light. The Wolfhound is true to its name as it is big and burly. I also hope that UCB does not cut corners on this one, but at the MSRP it has, $300.00, it should stay the high quality piece that I have in my pocket. I wouldn't pay the sticker for this knife as there are too many others out there at that price point that I would rather have, but for what I did pay I think it is an outstanding value, especially when you consider the materials and the fit/finish.

One question I have though, where id this knife manufactured? There is no marking on the knife or box to indicate a country or origin.
