Yangdu took a pic before sending them off for shipment (quite a busy day yesterday apparently).

Enjoy the pic!

Is there a false edge or any tapering on the bolo? can't tell...

Really like that bolo.

May not be able to resist the next(?) one.

Anyone know how hard rhododendron wood is?

I got a rhododendron WW2. The wood seems soft
and definitely needs sealing.
Thanks, WW. Does that softness cause you any problems/concerns. (for some reason, I feel funny asking that question...)

More bolos please, but I"ll take one in the normal buffalo horn. Nice to see new models popping up.

If they stayed true to the model, there is no tapering on the spine. That straight part at the back of the tip should be flat and well hardened for use as a hammer or as a striking point to make the bolo a froe. That was part of my design intent. The kamis may have done something else though and that's fine by me if they did.

Aardvark, the only concern is that the oil (dirt)
from handling has already darkened the wood.
Needs to be woodchucked and tru-oiled.

Got it. I just received a karam wood WWII that has the same characteristic: sucks up dirt and oil like a sponge.

Interestingly enough, when I TruOil'ed the karda and chakma (haven't done the WWII yet), the finish didn't penetrate nearly as well as with the saatisal, which is MUCH harder. Maybe there was already some kind of oil/finish on it, thought it didn't look like it.

Yangdu and Dan, thanks a bunch for that new picture. Those are some nice looking knives.

Have you tried paste wax?

I didn't like it at first but I swear by the stuff now...that is, if a shiny finish without depth is acceptable. Tru Oil certainly looks nicer but paste wax is more durable (IMO) and a lot faster.
