Thanks for the entries everyone, you all did a great job. After careful review I have decided that I could not decide between two of the entries so both of them win their choice of either a BK14 or BK11, please PM me your choice and your address.
WINNERS:
One Legged Josh, I like that you cooked different components different ways and made a grill out of wood
ParacordMan1220, I've never seen a burger cooked like that before, well done. Also I appreciate the primitive fire starting techniques
ParacordMan1220 I think you are a basic member so we'll have to work out a way for you to email me your info. I will try to order your prizes this week from Tomars (unfortunately I forgot to load up my PayPal so I won't be able to go through Moose unless I wait a week for the funds to transfer). Thanks again to everyone who participated, I'm sorry I couldn't give a prize to everyone!
I know, you guys must be getting sick of them, right?
So here's my 1000 post GAW guys. I am only like 8 posts away so I figured I'd go ahead and get the ball rolling. I ran a poll awhile ago to see what kind of GAW's ya'll prefer and bushcraft/knife skill contest won out, I was secretly hoping that cooking contest would win so I'm going to integrate cooking into this as well.
The challenge:
Cook something (anything, a carrot, a marshmallow, a steak, whatever) on something that you made using only a Becker and natural materials (wood, natural cordage, rocks, etc) over a fire. I don't care if you just sharpen a stick and toast a mallow with it, but you may not win if someone else builds a rotisserie out of wood and roasts a whole hog or something.
DISCLAIMER:
Use utmost caution not only when dealing with fire but also if you choose to cook raw meat. Wash and sanitize your hands, use meat thermometer to check doneness, etc, etc. I recommend having a fire extinguisher nearby.
Criteria:
-You don't have to be a Beckerhead but you must use a Becker Knife in the process, you may use multiple Becker Knives if you choose/feel the need
-Pictures not just of finished product but of process of building cooking apparatus and cooking the food (a video would be a plus)
-If you are legally a minor where you live get written consent that you are allowed to do this, also I suggest having some kind of supervision there (not that you are incapable or safety while being a minor, I just don't want to get blamed if you set your backyard on fire)
EDIT: I have decided that if need be you can use a pot, as long as the fire and how you rig up your pot and everything else is all natural. So just to clarify, a pot and your Becker are the only manufactured items allowed besides natural materials.
I will pick the entry that put in the most work/creativity, unless everyone is roughly on par with each other in which case I will use a random number generator.
Light chatting is fine with me, even if it's a bit off topic, just post 'Official Entry' above your official entry and you're all good.
This will run until June 25th. Have fun and be safe, and thanks to all of you for making this a place that made it easy to reach 1000 posts!
EDIT: Haha! Almost forgot to include what I'm giving away. The winner will receive the tweener of their choice delivered right from either Tomars or Moosez (depending on availability) to you (sorry, CONUS only guys unless you wanna cover the shipping but that's probably more than the knife). IF I feel it is neck and neck between two entries I will break down the prize and each will receive their choice of either a BK11 or BK14. Thanks again.
