So besides being the most comfortable knives made the other thing that draws me to Andy's knives is the sheer beauty. I love browsing all of the threads and seeing the stunning burls and colorful burlaps, just amazing work. But my favorite Fiddleback is this EDKarda. It never leaves my pocket. Plain old black micarta on black with blue pinstripes 3/32" O1. No wow factor at all but it's my most used and most untouchable knife in my collection.

Let's see those ugly ducklings that perform like beautiful swans.

Here she is...

I love the black on black with blue pinstripes and wish they'd make more! Somewhere out there is my dream Kephart...

...meanwhile, these were taken not long after a day at the spa so the Hunter isn't looking too ugly...but it now sports a fine patina.

I heard that the black and blue combo wasn't being made anymore because the blue doesn't pop enough. I love it too...

It was once a Woodsman.

That is one of my favorite models I've ever made. Just enough knife. That would almost be a better name. It always broke my heart that it didn't sell. I pushed it for a long time.

Edited to add, I'm talking about the EDKarda.

Given the current popularity of all the small blades, might it be worth trying this one again? It looks like it would make a perfect "first" knife for small hands; a mating of a guardless HB and the older 3-finger Karda.

I agree 100%! I love that version.

I want one...

Here's my little ugly duckling:

Just black, no liners. Does have a nice taper and hollow pins though!

Nothing ugly about that!!! That is an awesome little knife right there.

Here is my my ugly duckling. I won't say it is exactly ugly, but it is not the colors I would have chosen. When I got it, it was very difficult to obtain an arete. I had been trying for awhile. This one came up on the flea market and although the colors were not my first choice, I swooped on it. Since then, I have had other convex aretes that visually had more appeal to me, but I like this one the best. It is 5/32" thick, but Andy ground this one very thin towards the cutting edge and it works great. Although I love the beautiful fiddlebacks, for me performance trumps all. This one is the perfect blend of thick to thin for my preferences. I love it.

Got to throw in photos of my contribution to this thread. Second Fiddleback I ever bought and is the one that gets the most use. This Three Finger Karda (old style) sits on my work bench 24/7 and is the go to knife for all the odd chores. The kirinite handle material is bright and easy to find, but.........may fall under the thread title. Sorry guys, not looking for any trades and not for sale.:D

Ugly duckling...lol!:D
There's nothing ugly about that EDKarda Abrasion.
I want to put it in my pocket everytime I handle that little beauty.
Such a perfect sized carry knife.
Hopefully this thread will motivate Andy to make a few more...

I'd post a pic of my Bushfinger, but I just cleaned it up with some Mothers and it looks like a show piece! Haha
I really love the patinas on Fiddlebacks.
We need a pic of Falers Hunter!

If there ever was a Fiddy that needed a spa treatment it's Falers Hunter, that knife had so much rust on it the color of the blade matched the natural micarta bolsters. I'd still buy that off him in a heart beat but I'm guessing it'll be buried with him. All of this Fiddleback addiction of mine I blame on him...
