Ugly Jim just got this in the mail today ! Jim wanted his sheath in natural tan (Fiebing's calls it Golden Oak), Jerry's is black. I prefer the tan, but that's why I have a shelf full o' dyes :) I'm waiting for one of the new orders to ask for deep brown/burgundy -- that would be sweet !
Jim, wear it well my friend :D

Folks...I'm sure most of you already know about the outstanding work that Mike does, but this was the first time I've had the opportunity to see his work in person and I'm very pleased with it :D. The tan leather is a perfect compliment to the desert color scheme on the NO, and the workmanship is first-rate. Thanks, Mike!

Very nice Mike. That color really does compliment the Desert tan. Ok UJ now take that combo out in the woods and break them both in.:D

Very nice Mike. You and I are going to have to exchange some money for leather soon...:D

Thanks guys -- Jim's is the basic model I'll offer for the NO when Jerry puts out the next bunch in September (September, right Jerry?) This sheath is 9-10 ounce veg-tanned leather so it won't harm the blade. It's handcut, and stitched with 70 pound synthetic sinew. I sealed it with a mix of beeswax and mink oil, with gum tragacanth on the welt. The extended throat isn't there to look cool, it's to hold the keeper strap away from the blade when drawing and sheathing -- no more cut straps :) It's a very strong sheath, and a very secure carry.
I'm on the road tomorrow morning, back end of next week, just in time for the Big Busse Release -- NOs and ADs for everyone :D

That tan has a great look to it....very nice.

Extending the "throat" (as you called it) to work with the strap was an interesting idea. I've seen it done on Kydex as a primary retention method, but never like this on leather.
