Ugly little utility knife

I'm still working on getting good enough to make a thinner grind from heavier stock. This one came out about 95% even. My wife says its very ugly but I think the blade geometry will make for an excellent around the house utility knife. When you hold it naturally in your hand, that tanto like front edge is in just the right place for work and this is the first blade I got down nice and thin for good cutting. The blade design is a very slightly convexed full flat grind. I'll put up some better pictures after I get a little further on it.

Not to disagree with your wife, but I think it looks damn good...

I think it looks ok too, but there is no arguing with women. Perhaps if I can get a vivid hamon line running down the blade she will change her mind.

What steel is it and put a g10 handle on it and i garinty you she will change her mind. that is a beautiful blade man

Finished it up and gave it to my best friend. Didn't fancy it up too much because I want him to actually use it.

looks ok, you need to watch your grinds...and the fronts of your scales need some work. You might want to spend some time in shoptalk and get some feed back from other makers. your friend will be happy though!

I wouldn't describe that knife as ugly.
My advice to you; avoid self deprecation at all costs! (Eventually, you'll end up believing it!)

Oh I agree, this is the third one I've finished. Would be number 5 but I just ruined two trying to learn to do full flat grind. This one started out as full flat grind tanto but it was looking like it wasn't going to come out right so I switched to easy ol convex to turn what was going to be trash into a usable knife for my friend who'ss been bugging me to make him a knife. The speed of this grinder frustrates the crap out of me (craftsman 2x42), prevents me from being able to take it slow. I'm going to keep trying full flat grind until I get it though.
