This has been a fun project knife, and I was not worried about going too far and messing it up. I decided to de-wave this Kershaw and to add a choil. I kept removing more of the wave and got into removing blade. The pictures show a time line of the transformation. Personally, I think it looks sort of ridiculous and would have looked cooler if I had stopped, but I thought it would be fun to do a poll and see what y'all think. It actually is quite comfortable in hand, despite the blade being lower than the thumb disk in the back.

I had the same knife before getting an Emerson.

I voted second option. Looks good.

Some hate a choil on (small) knives but IMO it can be useful and in this instance makes it look sleek.

A few of my knives with choil added.

I added a small choil to the MicroMelt Mule, as its not a big blade.

Handle bobbed, hump bobbed, guard bobbed also

The choil is big enough though for fine work

The bigger blade of the JYD got a slightly bigger choil.

It looks clean, so, I can’t offer any criticism other than questioning why on earth someone would have an Emerson anything without the wave.

Good job on the choil, by the way. I like that it doesn’t eat into the cutting edge much.

You did a nice, profesional looking job.
I like it fine.

Of course you know it is slightly weaker now near the pivot so when prying the car doors off the older cars be careful not to tweak your nice EDC.
And some advice given to me when I was first building a shop by a craftsman I hold in the highest esteem, he could do complex Japanese interlocking temple jointery and building sky scrapers was his day job, . . . he said to clean up all the saw dust before grinding metal or you will have a shop fire on your hands. (maybe you did. I'm just being careful :))

Keep up the good work. Glad some body is modding around here.

Thanks for the feedback and the advice! I have saw dust and shavings everywhere. I'll stop being lazy and clean it up.

I think it looks great, though personally I would never remove a wave, only add them!

I like the choil mod too. Choils are obviously a matter of preference but on some knives they feel amazing. Some knives they don’t feel as great. I would have to hold the knife to know for sure how much the choil mod wkuld suit my hand.

But if it suits yours that’s great. In no way is the knife made ugly.
