Managed to score one of the elusive " ugly villager knives" that where put up this week, got home today and a triangular box was waiting for me. I have to say, I really like this one, feels light in hand, yet substantial enough for heavy work and while its not the prettiest finish, it is a far cry from ugly:D

Just got something that makes uploading and editing video much easier, so this weekend I'm gonna do some chopping vids

And I HIGHLY recommend if you can score one of these, do so, these UVKs are an insane value!

Yes they are.Got my 17" UVK yesterday and spent a few hours today doing some fit and finish refinement along with sharpening and stropping.Beautiful work knife-unparalleled value.Joe.

Ohhhh... you just like showin' off that Zilla, don't ya! Those are three beautiful sisters, though :D

Absolutely! I'm loving the rustic look of the unfinished flats.

She demands to be photographed!!! I'm really impressed with the UVK though, I thought I would have to rework the handle, but the ridges are no where near aggressive as the ones on my ASTK were

Great update on those "ugly" Villagers . You scored big time. I love it's traditional looks and it's stick tang that puts the weight forward for farm work or for us bushcraft.
Make your own Kydex sheath it's not traditional but it works well and is fun to do.

I was surprised to see that. I immediately sanded down my WWII handle and pretty much made a dream to hold, but it looks like someone's already done your work for you :D

That is a good looking Kukri, I like it a lot!
It has nice traditional lines, always my favorite look, that long curve from the handle. SWEET!

Thank you for sharing the three sisters bro. Very nice.

Thank you!

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe a kydex/ leather hybrid of some sort, if I can locate my rivet setter.

I thought I was going to have to, I don't have any fears anymore about just modding a knife to suit myself, but it is actually very comfy as is

I ink I prefer is kind of gentle curve ( like the Zilla or the UVK) over the sharper bend of the ASTK, they just look better to me and I feel they work better for me ( but could be just because I'm used to it)

Forgot to share this, quick video of the UVK and Zilla

Below picture by Berkley. From HI Forum on 6-29-2009.
Villager with Non-Villager.jpg

Watching your video got me thinking about that black finish on villagers. How tough is it and will it last? According to Berkley in the "Forge Finish" update 6-29-2009:
"No question the forge scale is a tough finish. The HI Ang khola has been used heavily since I got it a couple of months ago, and shows very little wear. I've used the old non-HI village kukri a lot over the last ten years, and it obviously worked well for its previous owner(s) for several decades before that."

Thanks for the video. I takes me longer to chop through wood when I use a Nepali loose two finger grip but I like it better so call me the Tortoise because I hope to best that Hare. Nice buy Jroden5446 .

Thanks guys! Good to know about the finish, seems pretty tough, i like the look of it myself. I've gotten through 2x4s a bit faster with the zilla before ( 6 chops).

I'm keeping my eye out for one of those "ugly" ones. They look great to me. Nice bunch of steel you've got there!!
