My son has a modest SAK habit, like me. I met his new girlfriend at the weekend and she is lovely, she also has five assorted SAKS plus a "few" Opinels (she was coy about the number). So we're strolling around town and pop into a surplus store. When we walk out we have a GAK each (well he has three - all by different makers).
Mine has sharpened up very nicely. :D

Gateway drug for DAK's , be afraid, very afraid ! I only have one , Vic. to be sure ! Safe GAKs !

Son's new girlfriend that collects knives...uh oh. That's like the alcoholic that dates a bartender. Bunch of enablers! :D

What did you pay for them? For a while there, they used to be common and cheap. They were also a fairly common topic around here.

I glad you found a source for some really great knives!

That's a good price. If they're in good shape, a GAK is a lot of knife for not a lot of money. My first SAK was a Victorinox red civilian version. They carry much easier than the newer and bigger Soldiers, and yet provide a quite a bit of outdoor utility for their size. I keep one in my canoe "ditch kit." There is also one on my dresser that I'll toss in my pocket from time to time just for the sake of nostalgia. Congratulations on a great find. (And make sure your son marries that girl! She's another great find!) :)
