Uh-OH! Pool shock!!!

I used my EDC to open 2 bags of swimming pool shock. Kind of made a mess. I didn't think much of it--rinsed off my knife and put it back in my pocket. WOW!!! That stuff is HORRIBLE on blades!! I had instant rust! My knife is like new again. Thank God for Break Free. Be careful what you cut open!!!

Would that be a good way to etch a blade if you wanted that sort of thing on a knife? I would assume it is similar to bleach.

It is bleach on steroids. Get the stuff in gallon jugs, it is easier to use.

Im not positve but that stuff is an oxidizer so mixed with water and steel it will speed up the rusting. That stuff is no joke I think they key is to make sure that your blade is bone dry when you cut in to the bag and quickly wipe it off. I think that there are non "bleach" like pool shockers out there but im not sure tho its been a while since I had to maintain a pool. I'm glad you caught it quick and saved your knife. Get one of those cheap ceramic knives for the pool area that will never rust.
