So I sent my Sebenza in and received an e-mail from Bridget asking for a number where I could be reached so Chris could call me regarding the knife.

Now this has gotten me all worried since I asked if the blade on my Sebenza was properly heat treated because of some edge damage and dulling after cutting apart a cardboard box.

Anybody else had something like this happen? Was the outcome positive or negative? I figure it can't be good seeing as the head honcho needs to call...

I would not sweat it in the least. I'm sure this is just another example of Chris standing firmly behind his products and wanting to get and give first hand information regarding possible issues with his knives. There have been a few other recent posts here on BFC re: Sebbie S30V blades verses cardboard boxes. In fact, I just got my small Sebbie back from CRK after they repaired the blade. I too had cut down a cardboard box and I assumed I had accidentally cut through a staple or two but maybe my knife edge was dulled and pitted for the same reasons as yours. Let us know what Chris says if it doesn't violate any confidentiality or trust.

Just on the off chance that Chris is calling to confiscate your CRK knives why don't you mail all of them to me. I promise I'll send them all (well most of them :D ) back to you when the heat dies down. Don't think about it, just run to your nearest Post Office. ;) ;)

[zombie]Yeeeess maaaster[/zombie] :D

I just got off the phone with Chris about an hour ago and had a nice conversation. He said he sharpened it himself, did some testing on some wood, and sliced a bunch of cardboard with it and it's "holding a damn good edge." They tested the Rockwell hardness and it was at 59, which is right where it should be. He told me to use it once I get it back and if it does the same thing or gives me any other problems, give him a call and we'll get it taken care of. :)

Man, if you had only mailed the knives to me before you spoke to Chris. :( :( :D
