My father and I have talked about my shooting hobby for months now. In the meantime, I've been looking at spotting scopes and thinking I should wait until I could afford a good one...as long as I shoot at 7 yards I don't really need it...

Today we went to an outdoor range together for the first time. Suddenly he realized that a spotting scope would be great! It turns out that he had a (nice) Celestron scope sitting in the back of his closet, probably unused for years...

Note to self: don't be shy about how neat it would be if you could just track down a [fill in the gadget] -- especially with family members who like gadgets and have a bigger toy budget than you do.

I can sympathize with you. Last time I moved, I opened some boxes that had been sitting for years. It was like Christmas in July. There were toys to make a gadget freak's heart go pitty pat
