I went to a gun show today. I brought my 5/16" INFI SHSH just for fun. I struck up a converstaion with a guy who started to tell me about how his son is in Iraq and how this is the second time over there. He told me that he was at the show to sell his guns to buy his son a strudy knife because he had already broken his TOPs. After seeing how much this guy wanted to do something for his son and seeing how worried this guy was, I traded the SHSH for a Schmidt-Rubin K31, I guess the 400+ SHSH was worth the 99.00+ K31, since it was for a good cause, but MAN DOES IT STING!!!!!
I am gonna go home and cry...

And you'll probably cry when that grateful soldier returns home and thanks you in person for that knife. :D ;)

I don't really regret it to tell you the truth, but it was hard to see my baby go...

Another idea. Loan him your knife, and when he's through with it, send it back to you with, maybe some pictures of Mr. Knife doing duty for his country.
The only gamble is the rifle. If he doesn't send your knife back your out $99.. He sends the knife back, you got your $400. knife back.

You did a good thing.... A father's love for his son, great kindness from a compassionate person like you.... and maybe a son's life saved protecting all of our freedoms.... you have my respect... ;)

You're a good man Devilnut!!! Your decision was made in the true spirit of an INFI HOG. . . I predict great things for you. . . . There will always be room at the great trough of INFI for you!!!!

Nuke on!!!!

Jerry

Your heart is in the right place! It's an honorable thing to do in helping a soldier out and giving his father a sense of relief knowing he is helping to protect his son in a dangerous place. A HOG salute to you!

When I first saw the title, I thought BLASPHEMY...NO REGRETS!!!!

But, having read what you did, I give you a cloven hoofed salute sir!!

I hope the SHSH serves the mans son well, and your K31 is a tack driver for you.

Hmm,S-R... Schmidt-Rubin Swamp Rat.... A bit of irony there....

Devilnut,

As the others have said, you should feel great that you've helped a soldier and his father fill an important need. They probably both need a morale boost right now. I'm sure they both appreciate your willingness to help. Good things will come to you :D

I learned something tonight with your post, and I thought I was pretty knowledgable on the topic of service rifles. I found this link describing the rifle you acquired. Looks like a great find. I've seen this rifle before, but didn't know what it was. I'd like to work the action to see how the straight pull works.

Very kind gesture, your knife will be in good company. My old PBU (Pig Butt Ugly, modified PBF) is being used in Iraq by the son of one of our suppliers.

Thanks guys for making me feel better about helping that guy and his son. My SHSH was begging for some abuse :D

Deciduous,
The action is actually really fast, MUCH faster than, say, a Springfield 1903.
The only problem is the caliber is kind of rare, and from what I've been reading, it is a match-grade round.

Oh and Jerry,
The question is will there be room in my wallet for INFI...
Oh well, NO REGRETS!!!

Haven't seen it , but heard he dremeled his name in the handle and had a thigh rig made up for it. It's got to look a little better. :D

Yeah but it was never in my safe, I slept with it....

...it had pants on, of course...

I mean the knife, aww nevermind, you INFI-holics know what I mean :D
