Details of the next UK Knife Fair are out and about. It's on the Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September 2008 and is part of The Midland Game & Country Sports Fair at Weston Park in Shropshire, England. Last year about 85,000 people attended the two day show.

Further details on the www.knifefairs.co.uk website.

There will be knives of all types, including old collectable knives, new factory knives from all over the world, and fantasy knives. Some of the best UK and European makers of custom hand made knives have stalls selling their knives, and taking individual orders for knives made to customer’s requirements.

This years event should also include a forge where exhibitors will be making knife blades.

For a review of Last Year's Fair including pictures of some of the knives for sale, see www.knifefairs.co.uk/lastfair.html

Dealers from across Europe are at the fair, not sure how many make it from the USA, but you're all welcome!

Did any of you go last year? How was it?

Stu.

I've wanted to do a show in the UK for several years. As I expect to have my slipjoint tactical folders ready this month, maybe I'll finally manage to cross the channel with some goods to sell!

Knife fare in thye UK.
Just dont bring any blades.
:D

Well, I guess we need some input from the poster?

maybe---You can buy whatever you want, but it gets confiscated when you leave and you get arrested???

I thought knives were illegal in England?

Everything else is!!!!!:(

Hey, I am not trying to screw up your posting, just a little joke, please give us the facts about this show and the UK laws. THanks

Knives are not "illegal" in the UK. There are pretty strict laws limiting what you can carry around on your person in Britian. Ownership and sale of most commen knives is legal. I sell knives to the UK on a regular basis but more to coollectors than to users.

The British blades forum is a good place to find exact info for UK laws and regulations.

Since the first of April 2008 Germany has enacted legislation similiar – if slightly less restrictive – to the laws in the UK. which have basically killed the market for user type folders which can be opened with one hand. This is the reason why I have developed a tactical slipjoint folder.

Who'd a thunk it in a country where 20 years ago, you could buy automatics at your local cigar store? You guys don't have to have a "weapons manufacturer" permit in Germany like Jens Anso does in Denmark to make one hand openers, do you? On an unrelated topic, are you going to be at Gembloux this year?

You don't need a permit to make, buy and/or own one hand opening folders in Germany – or the UK for that matter – because none of those are prohibited by law.

In Germany you may not carry such a knife on your person without a "reason" and just which reasons are enough for the police, well that's a really grey area in a really badly thought out and written law. For this reason many Germans have stopped carrying (and buying) one hand folders.

I expect I'll be in Gembloux this year. :D

It's goes to show you how silly the law can be. From what I have read, you can't carry a one handed folder with a 2 1/2 inch blade and yet you can still carry a fixed blade if the blade is under 12 cm/4.9 inches. Just like New York. You can carry a 4 inch fixed blade concealed, but if you carry a little tiny folder with the pocket clip showing, you can be arrested. I will be at Gembloux this year. My first international show and only my second overall. I am psyched!!:D

The BKA folks really put on a great show in Gembloux: great food and great company.
