UK Knife Laws

All,

I am headed to Scotland over Christmas break, and in looking up the local laws it appears I can really only carry my Swiss Army knife, no lockbacks and nothing over three inches, which rule out my Griptilian and RAT-1. Can anyone offer a confirmation of this? If so, what would be the consequence of having my swiss army knife without a "good enough" reason? Can someone give a realistic expectation of what these laws mean?

Thanks!

Nathan

You can carry almost anything as long as you have good reason. Exceptions include autos, balisongs and gravity knives. Flippers and semi autos are not specifically prohibited but are probably a bit risky.

Non locking knives with a blade less than 3 inches long are OK without having to have good reason. However, they can still be considered an offensive weapon, so you are on thin ice if you carry one into a pub, night club, football match etc.

Whatever you choose to carry, be discreet as there are a lot of wet, alarmist idiots in the UK who have been brainwashed into thinking knives are for stabbing people and you wouldn't possible carry one for any other reason.

A Swiss Army Knife is generally accepted - probably because most people have half cut their own finger off with one at some time in their life and know you couldn't hurt someone else more than yourself if you tried:)
