Hi,
I'm looking at starting to forge and make my own knives. I live in the UK, lake district.

Looking for some advice in where to purchase equipment/tools/materials.

Looking to purchase my first belt grinder and forge.

I too am in the UK.

I agree with Stacey, GFS is good.
Drill Service Ltd is excellent.
Valorbe files are good. Think Axminster still sells them.

One of the UK’s top makers (stock removal, not forging) is based in Carlisle….figure out how to be friends ;-)

I built my own forge, following the design of the Ron Reil’s mini freon tank forge.

Sorry, can’t advise much on the grinder….I bought a Coote from the US, then over 10 years later, a Reeder, also from US.

Chris
