Apologies if this is the wrong area, new member & couldn’t find option to message a mod.

I’d like recommendations for a UK made spearpoint. I like the look of the A Wright in ebony but seeing some of the QC posts has put me off to be honest.
While I’m asking, are there any UK made traditional folders with a sodbuster type pattern?

Depends what you're looking for... Eye Candy or Workhorse.
A Wright doesn't build knives with the same level of fit n finish as the more collectable brands, but they are still a solid user-knife.

Definitely something to be used, I have a Case Jr that I greatly enjoy and accept it’s a mass produced item but the blade rubbing against the liner is still annoying.

Also lazyness/carelessness at the $40.⁰⁰ (standard synthetic handle Junior. Bone and other materials significantly higher.) price point. 😡

An Off Shore $7.⁰⁰ (+/-) Imperial and under $10.⁰⁰ to $12.⁰⁰ Rough Ryder "Sodbuster" pattern work knife lack the blade rub feature on most of their knives of that pattern. The VERY few offshore Imperial and Rough Ryder that have slightly off center blades and no blade rub get lots of bad mouthing, and are "cheap junk".
Yet a CASE Sodbuster or Sodbuster Junior with a slightly off center blade to bad enough to cause blade/liner rub get a "pass" because it IS a Case, and it is a "work knife"?
At up to 6x (or more) the cost of the Imperial/3x ~ 4x or more than the Rough Ryder, yude "think" the "Average" Case Sodbuster/Sodbuster Junior Quality could at least be equal to or exceed the quality of the much lower cost offshore options.

Does Case get the "Pass" in QC because
(a) "Its an 'AMERICAN' Country"?
(so are the companies that own the Imperial - Schrade brands, and the Rough Ryder brand.🙄)
(b) Case knives are "Collectable", so rarely sell on the second hand market for less than new cost?

Check out Rough Rider/Ryder knives on the used market.
Most are selling for up-to 6 and 7x the cost new.
A guy on You Tube was excited he (quote) "stole" (end quote) a Rough Rider RR887 Smooth Tobacco Bone 'OUTDOORSMAN' series Large Sunfish, identical to this one, for a review.

for (quote) "ONLY" $60.⁰⁰ plus shipping on eBay.

Cost of the now discontinued RR887 Large Sunfish when new?
I paid $9.⁹⁵ plus free (NOT "PRIME") shipping on Amazon, 9 years ago. 8 years ago I found a second (for back-up) at the same price at either a TA or LOVE'S truck stop that had a rack of knives in a hang pack, in one of the Carolina's (I "think" it was South Carolina. I was visiting no less than three truck stops daily, each in a different state (and sometimes local time zones ... my watch and the "truck time" was set to Eastern Time no matter what the local time zone was.)
Sadly, the bag containing the back-up RR887 (and several other knives) was lost during my (likely) last move. 🥺😭
Several other RR I paid $10.⁰⁰ and less for new are currently selling for between $25.⁰⁰ and $39.⁰⁰!
(I have less than zero intentions or desire to sell any of my knives, by the way.)

I know where a lot of better quality (mostly Barlows) have come up for sale in the UK but dont think allowed to link.

I bought some vintage/old Richardsons yesterday clip and spear points they are nice but not high end.

Have a look in English Jacks.
