Hello, IHave the chance to test a UK Penknife as EDC. This non locking folder gives very high performance. First , it doesnt need any lock as its ergos and secure grip, thanks to his choil, are more than enough for the chore I destin it. My Grandfathers used to work mainly with slipjoints knives and they never complainted. Now for the SD point of view, a hand razor got no lock too... Any way, I believe Spyderco got here a folder who desserve more exposure, and should be not restricted to England. This a small big knife which can handle chores where many other famous locking folders woul fail. Especially thanks to its incredibly reliable blade geometry, there is no job to big for it. I have been cutting carpets, thick cardboards box and wood and the edge sliced through it easily. Way to Go British Design Team and Sal . A knife designer has gifted as he is has been able to listen carefully to his elu. This is something rare enough to be noticed and the result is in my humble point of a 100% working knife. A timeless classic. Cheers JM

Nemo, when I joined up on BFs, I didn't own many knives. But that's all changed! Now I have/had approx. 30+.I usally keep about 15 in possession. To this day, if you asked me to show you my BEST knives, the first one I'd pull out would be th U K Pen! I love it! It's the only knife I worry about. Walter

as soon as the ukpk came out i snaped it up. its one hell of a knife. i find myself lost if its not in my pocket.

I can't say enough good things about the UK-Penknife. This knife has been my constant companion since it was released last December, the rest of my collection is beginning to feel seriously left out :D

I was using it to prepare my evening meal the other night, and it struck me (again), that if I had to design a general purpose folder for use in the UK, the UK-PK already incorporated everything I would want, from blade profile, erganomics, clip and convinience.

I know Sal said that this would be a UK only model, and I know a number of us over here really appreciate the sentiment behind the decision, but I don't think anyone would begrudge the knife getting a wider audience (as long as there were always enough for the UK market ;) ).
I've noticed that a lot of Spyderco's new designs have been pushing the envelope on inovative style, but this knife, whilst taking a step forward in manufacturing techniques, is a real nod back to the older style of no frills, no nonsense, just a good simple/competent knife.

Thanx much for the kind words. The opinions are very ueseful in determining what directions to go with this "new" concept.

In that case let me add high praise as well. This one would be the Ultimate Folder if it had a lock.

That's basically what the Calypso Junior is. ;)

Wanted to give another thumbs-up for the Spyderco Penknife, I carry it religiously and use it every day. :)

Dear English posters,

1st throw the tea in the Thames.
Then, get your gun and.....ooops.....forgot....
They're gone, aren't they?

What a dreadful place to be incarcerated.

I hope Spyderco RESTRICTS sales to ONLY UK. If only to emphasize how onerous their laws are whereby they deny their citizens the safety of a knife that locks open.

Differences are that you get upgraded materials, in particular G-10 handle. Also knife is made for deep carry concealment. SV30 blade with more belly;.

Dang I want another one of these to carry. I have a numbered safe queen but want one to carry. I may have to order from HH, but if anyone knows where I can get a better deal on a UKP that hasn't been exported once already, let me know!

Are you serious? The UK Penknife is such a good design that its advantages clearly outweigh the lack of a lock. The ergonomics are better than any other knife I have. I can carry locking knives over here, and yet the UK Penknife has become my EDC. The UK Penknife is the first knife where I don't miss a lock, and it not having a lock even has one big advantage IMO: It easier and faster to close than a locking folder.

IMHO this is one of the best small knife designs out there. I have carry mine exstensively and like it alot. I would like it even more if it had a lock though. And yes, it is better then the Caly jr.!

Habeus Corpus.....Nothing against the KNIFE. My tirade is against Britain and its emasculating, arrogant abrogation of its subjects "rights." However, since they seemingly have NONE, I suppose it's a moot point.

Maybe there is hope after Charles ascends the throne. However I think he will have to overcome his habit of tittering every time he hears the phrase, "the people."

:D

wheres all the pics?. Anyone have some of the knife in use? :) bring on the pics

I hope that when the inevitable european constitution eventually arrives, our draconian knife laws are forced to change, however in the meantime, i guess a uk penknife would do nicely. Until then, its good excuses all the way.

Hello

IMHO harder laws helped create this UKPK wonderful design.
Restriction helps inventions.
Inventions are the convention criticism...

Do overcome. Stop nagging.

Cheers
