Ulster Barlow on Ebay

Hey Waynorth,
I bowed out to S & S a couple days ago. I finally got one from an earlier auction. The seller sent me two knives instead of the 10OT. He sent me the right knife today & I shipped the other two back to him. He only has a 96% positive feedback & I can see why. He charged me $12 to ship via UPS, and then sent it by the Post Office for $4.05. But, I now have a 10OT in my hot little hand. :D So, am a bit happier. Now if he will refund my cost of shipping the wrong knives back to him??!

The 10OT I got was $22.18 with his inflated shipping charge. Not a bad price for a 10OT that needs a bit of clean-up. There is a bit of rust on the small blade. Springs are strong & it walks & talks, especially after I oiled it.

Thank you for not sniping, but as far as I am concerned, it is up for grabs. It is at $53.85 with 1-1/2 hours to go. More than I am willing to pay, especially since I have one now. :D :D

Take care,
Dale

Well guys, I may jump back in. Thanks for letting me know! I know and like the seller, and it's hard to beat the condition if it's as described;
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

Whoever this frnorth is, he/she outbid me on a couple of Schrade Cutlery Cos last week. Seems to have limitless funds. Kind of frustrating.

Yes, it went to $54.85, $60 by the time I get it home. Slightly insane, but only slightly. If I ever re-sell it, it will hold its value I think. I've never been one to own too many near mint knives until a) my nest emptied out of fledglings a short time ago, and b) all these nice knives hit the market from SMKW breaking up the "Wall" (sniff). I figure if I can hold a bunch and share the pictures, it helps keep the "quality that was", in a corner of the public's mind. That's why this forum, and Larry and everyone else's efforts are so important.

Holy Cow! I just realized that you're one and the same waynorth, guess I wouldn't make much of a detective! Well then congrats on your winnings! Those were some FINE looking knives. Did you happen to notice the AG Russell collection that came up last week? Quite a few nice ones in that bunch.
Eric

Definitely not limitless ea42!! I'm selling knives as fast as I can to finance this Schrade collection! (wanna buy a knife??) Just kidding! I won't try to promote that here. What's your Ebay name ea42?? I'll definitely back away if I see you bidding up there. You will find that I'm buying less now, as the well is near bottom! Especially since I found that collection at A.G.Russell! Curse you Del!!

I think it's better if you don't back away, it spares me a LOT of grief from my wife. She always seems to catch the packages in the mail before I can get to them. Of course now I'll be getting one from AG Russell some time this week, so you can imagine what'll happen. Anyone need a roommate? I go by ericabs on ebay, so if you see that handle, please bid high!
Eric

PS
Did you happen to notice that beautiful jack complete with the suspender chain?

P.O.B. solved that one for me. Just dispose of the boxes before you come home.

PS- This only works for single items. When fifty pound boxes come by UPS, you still have to "man-up". "So?" is always a wise, philosophical rejoinder to use. Forget trying to explain historical significance, how you are saving history one knife at a time, or justifying need. "So?" is about as good as it gets.:foot:

PS PS- The couch can be comfortable after a while. :D

All is well. :) Just got a 10OT I bid on a few days ago.

It's a pinch- my GF broke her arm yesterday and now things are tight- but all is going to be well.

hey Eric is this the jack that's on its way to you?? If so, you beat me to one for a change!:grumpy: I tried to buy it, but they said it was already gone. Nice one, yours or not!:D

No Waynorth, it wasn't me , and here I thought you got that one too! I did try for it though, along with the 21453CH, also too late. I did snag the natural jigged premium stockman though, but I'm sure it's nothing like those jacks. To see 60+- year old knives in that condition is amazing.

Congrats S&S! It looks like a good one. I quit bidding when I saw your bid. I'll get one sooner or later. Hopefully no one's arm will be broken in the process! JK,JK!:D

Hope your GF is ok!! The knife sure is, great 10OT! Looks like I paid a bit high for mine;-{(

She's hurting, but I'm doing all I've got to help her feel better. :) Lots of backrubs/shoulder rubs, food that's easy to eat one-handed, that kind of thing.

Now to get my 10, and see if it's a Schrade or an Ulster. ;)
