Was very pleased to nab this Old Ulster Cattle Knife recently. Its in amazing shape with barely any use at all on the blades. This one appears to have been made for Craftsman and under a certain might you can still make out the faint shadow of the "Craftsman Hammer Forged) etch on the main clip blade. The craftsmanship on this knife is just phenomenal. Everything tight yet smooth, no gaps, no wobble. Just a solid worker with no detail overlooked. All of its blades sharpened up with a few licks to razor sharp slicers.

The peachseed bone was a little rough and dry but polished up nicely.

And here it is with its great grandson the GEC Tidioute Buckaroo in Bloodwood. Its amazing to see how faithfully GEC followed the old Ulster model.

Thanks for looking. Please feel free to share your old Ulsters.

What a gem, Lemmy!! Does not get much nicer than that old equal end. What a treat to see:D

Although the equal end is not my favorite frame for a stockman, I wouldn't have been able to pass on that one. Nice grab!

Lemmy,
Very handsome knife and a great comparison to the modern GEC! :thumbup: I have a number of Ulsters and it is one of my favorite among the list of defunct knife brands.

Thanks guys. Yes it seems GEC was so faithful to the ulster they even matched the smooth yet firm action and admirable walk and talk.

Very nice score!!!:thumbup::thumb up:

That old knife must have belonged to the ranch forman, being is such good shape. Hardly looks like it's 'been up the trail.'
:D

What a great vintage find Lemmy:thumbup: Nice comparison between the two...love that peachseed bone:)

That is a beauty!!! I unfortunately do not have my own to show off, but seeing that peach seed and quality has only focused my attention on one I have had my eye on. Great find Lemmy!!:thumbup:

That Ulster is a stunner, Lemmy!! When someone says "Pocket knife", something very close to yours it what comes to this old man's mind's eye: symmetric frame shape, beautiful jigging, multiple blades. Awesome!
