A past president of a famous knife company bought the Ulster factory collection many years ago, and recently sold it, along with some amazing Camillus knives. I was lucky enough to get my grubby paws on a few of the some 3000 knives in the collection! 5 to be exact, which blew my knife budget for some time to come!!
A fine Harness Jack, and 4 Barlows, all from Ulster.

The Harness Jack has a wonderful Etch on the blade, reflecting the pride that Dwight Divine took in his products.

All five knives have the pattern number inked on the main blade. Some seem to have a price.

On the HJ, the punch has a generous "rollover" that makes up the pull, and guides the cut into a circle. It is very like a New York Knife Co patent punch, and was likely made after NYK's patent expired (after 17 years). The bolster was finished in the western* fashion, lengthwise on the sanding and buffing wheels.
The Barlow bolsters are finished in the eastern** fashion, crosswise on the wheels.
It was extremely lucky to find all four Main Barlow blades! I don't know if they did a Spey, or not. The one-handed blade seems to be a model for GEC's. It has a nice sharp hook and works well.
Enjoy please, and post your Ulsters, and, any information about them you may have!!

*western equals New York, PA and environs.
**eastern refers to New England areas.

Charlie,
All five are in nice shape and are beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Am I mistaken or is the harness jack the same folder You showed me at the Rendezvous ?

>Thanks, WFC!!
>I just got it in the mail today, Tim. First time I have seen it - bought it unseen from a trusted dealer!!
>Thanks Robin - I agree! It doesn't get any better!!

What can we say?

I can't quite describe my feelings when I look at knives of this Calibre.

This is what I deem as the best that you can get in collecting. Charlie- you and I have spoken before about this man and his collection - it staggers me to imagine viewing the original 3000 - the upkeep alone must have been a worry, I am sure I would have humidity controlled ambient settings in place to help with the preservation.

All five are stunning- if you said to me take your pick ? I would hope you'd enjoy your 4 Barlows as stunning as they are.

That HJ is simply one supreme knife.

What a pleasure to view - thank you so much for sharing Charlie - we are really lucky.

They fell into good hands Charlie, that's for sure!! Mighty fine group, but the harness jack is extra special, what an eye popping etch.

Those knives are simply stunning! The sawcut bone is great.

Nice Barlows Charlie! If you need a few bucks to buy more, just ask Primble, he is good for it.

That is exactly the way I felt Duncan! I had to walk away for a while and think on it and I still cannot find the exact words.

What I will say instead is that I am happy to see that five of them went to the "right man".

If I had seen those knives in one group and in person, the first thing I would have thought of was Charlie Campagna.

The Harness Jack is certainly top shelf, but, so are the Barlows.

The Barlows, all with different blades configurations, and beautiful bone are indeed stunning - the best knife collecting can get, IMO.

I suppose one could say these Barlows are what a C.C. SFO would have looked like in the old days!:eek::thumbup::thumbup::)

Stunning, amazing, breath taking, beautiful and gorgeous to name a few of my thoughts...oh and lovely is another;):)

Thanks for posting these Charlie...I'm with Duncan in regards to the HJ:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing these Charlie. Most of us will never be fortunate enough to obtain knives of this quality, but if we did they would certainly be grails, no doubt!

A nice bunch, in impeccable condition. My favorite is the HJ. It is simply divine. :D

I often wonder what people think when I show off these great knives.
If I were rich, I would have purchased 200 or 300 out of that collection!

As it is, I don't smoke, drink little, don't gamble, and have nudged the fledglings out of the nest! And I have been known to eat beans and rice!!
(Very good for you!!)

If you want them bad enough, you will have them, Clutch!!

More than the knives, I want all my friends (you all included) to live happy, serene lives. Showing them off, giving some away . . . . .
that's where it's at! And that's what we do here!!!

Sublime! What treasure and such a treat for you to share them with us, Charlie!!

The pristine condition gives us a window into time. I surmise, and correct me if I am wrong, that he harness jack is older than the barlows? The harness jack seems to have hammered pins and the barlows spun.
