I have a 58OT stamped ULSTER USA 58OT . It measures 3 1/4 closed. It is a real Old Timer in that it has been used and sharpened and carried to the point that the handles are smooth as silk.
Would this be on of the Prince Albert knives spoken about in another thread here?
Is there much demand for this piece with collectors? Since it is not mint or even near mint I am guessing not.
Any information on this old knife would be appreciated.

how do you guys know that this Ulster 58OT came with the Prince Albert offering. surely this was one of Ulster's most common patterns, widely sold ?
i haven't "figured out" the Ulsters yet. roland

Roland,
I don’t know how widely sold the 58OT was, but I do have a copy of a 1961 price list with the 58OT listed in it. I do see it on Larry’s web site on Ulster Flyers up through 1971. So that makes at least an 11-year run in the catalogs. It must have enjoyed some degree of popularity.

I am not sure if it is possible to tell the difference between a 58OT that came through the mail-in PA offer or one you bought at the local hardware store. I don’t think there is a difference.

I hope this answered your question,
Dale

Thanks Dale, answered my question exactly !
it's taken well over 1 year to have a reasonable understanding of Schrade knives 1973 - 2004. but now with Ulsters and Imperials, i'm starting from scratch again. maybe this time next year i'll be able to answer an Ulster question with some knowledge ! roland

One thing about the Ulster 58OT, not too many survived in original packaging, if there ever was one. I think many came in a plastic slip. I've seen a few on Ebay the seller claimed were original, never definitive. Maybe one of these?

I've never seen any official 58OT paperwork. I got this box with a beat up Primble stamped 108OT.

Anyone got any bling for a 58OT?

Answered my questions too. How about some more? The date of 61-66 is not really accurate?
Were all 58OT's made stamped "Ulster" or were there some stamped Schrade? Are there any sources for production numbers on these or other Old Timers?
I a Ulster stamped knife once in a blue moon. The Dog Leg Jack is one I had never seen until about 2 months ago then all of a sudden I come across 4 of them. Were there a lot of them made too?
Thanks for all your expertise.
Ed
