I finally got one, A Spyderco Para 3 with Maxamet steel. I think My quest for the ultimate ECD has finally come to a close. I can only think of one down side, The blade is not rust resistant.. I guess it’s a small trade off for great edge retention.

The Maxamet isn't as rust prone as other steels, but yeah it isn't stainless. Some Tuffglide, EDCi, or mineral oil (the oil being food safe) makes for good mitigation. Just keep an eye on it and you'll be fine.

I love the finish Spyderco puts on their Maxamet blades, though. That stonewashed-then-polished look plays nice with the light and makes for a good, smooth action.

This is what I've found too. On my Maxamet Native, it seems to be more rust resistant than 1095 and D2. I haven't wiped it with oil at all, just made sure I wipe it dry and clean after use.

It is a FANTASTIC steel. I wish more Spydies were offered with it. I'm thinking about a Manix 2 in Maxamet right now, but in reality, the BD1 in my current Manix 2 is plenty good enough for my needs; Maxamet is so high above my needs it's not even funny.

I feel you.
Spyderco are the only ones that go in my Pocket.
I tried two other knives yesterday for a few mins. They both went back for a spyder.
Sigh

I agree with cowboyfromhell666 above. I have a Para3 S110v spydie.

I have got it so sharp now, thanks to the grey stones on my Sharpmaker. I have little hair on left arm.
I know its stainless/rustless as I cut fruit and veg with it. Yes its my EDC.
