I no its been brought up before (perfect edc), but I would like some suggestions on a good all around edc folder with a blade 4" max that will carve into wood (without having to think twice), be a good slicer, one hand opening non assisted, under 5oz, reliable solid long lasting lockup, solid handle that does not exceed blade length to much, flat ground blade, preferably an s30v/s35vn steel. I am planning on using this knife for a lot of camping off the beaten track and for basic edc (not worried about the paper cuttting test). Considering this the last knife I will need and will pay the price as long as it is worth its value.

Another vote for the Para 2, or maybe the Benchmade 710 (I don't own one yet but I want one pretty bad) even though it's priced a bit high.

Also, I will add the Benchmade 950 Rift is a great EDC knife, especially if you can pick it up cheaper on the secondary market like I did (paid $100 shipped for one NIB). I carry mine just as often as I do my Para 2.

If this is your last knife and willing to pay anything....I would recommend a Strider SMF or LG Sebenza. Might as well go out with a bang :D. If that's to much, a Military would be just fine IMO.

If there was such a thing as "last knife I need", bladeforums wouldn't be around...

For example others recommended Para 2 because it does fit your description nicely, but it's not a knife I'd personally enjoy using for camping. Anyone who's used it on wood can tell you it's anything but comfortable with the meat of your hand digging into the lock and gap on the back of the knife. Folders are rarely comfortable for such work, which is why I leave those kinds of chores for fixed blades.

I've learned it's by far more practical to get few different knives to do different tasks well than expecting one knife to do it all. A lot of knives can do it all, just not very well.

Still, if you dream of catching that unicorn, I wish you the best :p

I used the example of carving through would not as the true pupose of the knife, but a folder that I you would have confindence in, and for the price will perform in tasks such as carving wood if it was necessay without having to think twice about it. My point is I don't plan ahead on what I'm getting into just to have a fixed blade because it's not convenient to me. I am looking for a folder that if it is over 300 bucks will not have to feel worried if I'm put in the spot to put it in hard use once in a while and have confidence that my money is well spent. I am looking for an excuse to get a sebenza but just don't have confidence in the hollow grind for the occasional hard use.

Get a Rajah II and a Victorinox Camper - $100 gets you both and you can do a lot more, for a lot longer, than a $300-500 titanium frame-lock - no contest. Get spares of both to keep in the bottom of a pack and you are still half the price of a Sebenza or right around the same price as a Emerson Commander...
