Come on fellas let's see a Tac. folder with a 9" blade, but a 5" handle... How? How about a 10" handle that folds in half and locks in place when the blade is deployed? Oh how I dream... [drooling in deep thought]. Tough enough to handle big fixy fighting/utility, yet you can slip it into your pocket.

That would still be 12" folded, equivalent to a 7" fixed blade.

Interesting idea though.

Oh yeah, good call. I'm not too familiar with making and stuff. Thanks for bringing me back to reality [wiping drool off face and keyboard]. Still, I would go for that even then. Maybe a slide mechanism could be employed for the extra bit o' handle needed to accomodate the blade. I REALLY REALLY WANT ONE Y'ALL.

Hey my Specialized S-Works M4(red) road, looks like it's made o' blades...

There is a maker in London, by the name of Farid Mehr, that makes a knife very similar. It is called the "Rad" and was designed by Laci Szabo. In the open position it sports a 7 inch blade, and when closed, 3 1/4 inches. It is a one hand opener, has a liner lock, 440C steel, and (I think) a titanium handle. Also a very nifty dual mode sheath molded from Concealex. Sorry I have no pictures, just a photographic memory.
Thanks :D

Wire Edge beat me to it. Check out the Laci Szabo RAD folder (designed by Farid Mehr):

WOW! Now you got me all hot! Thanks. It sounds like a real beauty, and I wanna see it. I wonder where it could be viewed. That also is a really sweet design by the sound of it!:D

Wow El Cid! where'd you find that? How much? Ooh Ooh Ooh... You guys amaze me with your lightning quick access of memory! Specs ? That double edge makes it illegal for me to carry here... BLADEFORUMS RULES!

Hey nacho,

Here's a review that I did of the Szabo RAD back in July, and you'll find lots of pics here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=161711

Farid Mehr no longer makes the RAD for Laci; Dale Reif does. Mine shown in the review is one of the first Reif RADs. Satin RADs are currently in the works as well. Check with my buddy Larry@bladeart.com for the best prices on RADs.

As much as I like the RAD, I must admit that it's not my idea of the ultimate folder. But the Ryan M1 Biohazard is. :D

And here's the Ryan M1 with a 98 Commander for size comparison;
