I went to my local Home Depot today and found this AWESOME folding saw. Easy to find blades anywhere you have a hardware store. Reasonably priced and come with 3 blades.
Uses regular sawzall blades (reciprocating sawblades). Things just got lighter, now I can leave the axe at home.

I've carried a one like that for some 25 years in my toolbox. They work well and are darn handy.

Mine's a Stanley. Holds extra blades in the handle.

I broke my old folding jab saw a few weeks ago. I picked up that exact one at Home Depot as a replacement and I am also very impressed with it.

Nice concept, how are those blades on wood? I usually like larger teeth, especially if the wood is soft, it cuts it immediately.

There are many different types of sawzall blades
for various purposes
these are just a few of them.

wood blades cut well.

Thanks for posting this, and reminding me that I've wanted one of those for a long time, and always forget when I'm in a store that would carry them.

Ed, 6" and 9" are the most common lengths, though there are some 3 5/8" and 4" blades. I have a pack of those Milwaukee Axe blades in a 12" length, but have only used one of them once-cutting a couple of railroad ties. There are some pruning blades in that length, too.
