If you have anyone of these and belive it to be the best, tell why! If there is another good canidate that is not on the list, please include it and tell why! Thanks!!

You actually left out the ultimate hard use blade.....The Spydie Chinook. It is basically a folding pry bar. Nuff said:)

What about the Buck-Strider? It isn't small or pretty but it's tough enough to handle anything you could ask of it...except maybe hiding in the pocket of your dress slacks, the thing is a little on the large side. I've owned one for a few months and it was one of the best knife purchases I ever made....besides my Strider BT & WB.

Steve Harvey: You are 100% correct. The toughest, biggest, giant folder I own is the TOPS Magnum. Its far too big to carry in your pocket, but it is big and mean. Plus it makes the most sexy clicking sounds when it opens and closes.

I also own a SERE 2000, a few Commanders, a BM710, a CS XL Voyager and a SIFU. However these are all pocket folders (and I like em all). The Magnum is in a league of its own, and is completely different than a pocket folder. In its sheath it looks like you are carrying a cell phone.

Just my opinion of course.

BM 710 is an all-around excellent utility knife. It is, for all intents and purposes, the most practical user knife of the ones you mentioned. You can't beat its lock, and if had in M2 steel, you can't beat its blade material. It is a knife that will probably last as long as you.

Sere 2000 is built more ruggedly than 710, but is not necessarily a stronger knife regarding lock. The Sere 2000 is near custom fit & finish, and truly is built like a bank vault. The lock-up on mine is like nothing else I own, including 710. It is a nice heavy 6 oz, but not overwhelming. It has excellent VG-10 blade. If you are not adverse to liner locks, this may be the one for you. IMHO, you cannot buy a better all around production liner lock, period.

What about the custom strider folder? Have you guys seen this thing? I carry mine almost every day. Blade is nearly 1/4" thick! Ti liners are about the thickness of a sebenza plus.... it has G-10 scales. This thing isn't for the faint of heart. I carry it clipped into my jeans pocket, and it rides just fine, plus it's A LOT bigger than the Buck version.

Here is a pic comparing the Buck version w/ the top knife.

And here is a pic of the spines of the Buck and the Custom.

I Don't know much about the folders you've mentioned but I do know my Emerson SOFCK and Ccommander have both had the crap beat out of them and they're still going strong

Thanks everyone for the input. To be more specific, I was thinking more in the range of an overbuilt EDC, not huge.

With the tip that it has?! I would say it definitely isn't a folding pry bar, or at least not until the first time you try to pry anything with it and the tip breaks clean off! Then you'll have a great folding prybar, and a nice flat-tip screwdriver as well. Or am I completely out to lunch? I mean, I don't have one, so it could completely be the profile.

Speaking of the Chinook, did anyone see the article by Vancook in the latest Tactical Knives magazine? In one of the B/W pictures in there, I'd swear that the Chinook looks like it has already lost a bit of its tip. No mention of it in the article, though.

Of the ones you mention I would say the SERE 2000 is more liek an overbuilt EDC.

Rockspyder,

I HAVE taken the Chinook and rammed it into a 2x4 and torqued it out just to see what would happen. I have also rammed it through a car door at the boneyard. It held up just fine. As long as the tip is imbedded past the thin point, there should be no problem. And just for the hell of it, I also chopped through a few sapplings (1-2").

And the best part is that it still is a defensive folder of the highest regard.

Everyones use varies, but I have no problem counting on this folder for everyday use, and I don't really like folders all that much.:)

Hey man, those photos convinced me. Just placed an order with OSO Grande Knives for an AR, can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow morning :) Looks like an awesome folder...

I would have to agree with Tom. How can you argue with his new language of smiley faces?
Or maybe I'll mention the TNT from mayo knives.
