Well, this is just a wish. Haven't found such a place yet.

I mean, like low AND HIGH resolution pictures of every possible knife, different angles etc...

Anybody knows about a place like that? Or maybe we could create our own gallery at BF? I bet that with this many members we could have a non-proprietary picture of any knife ...

Sounds cool, but I can imagine all those "high res" pics taking up ALOT of room...

Plus, just by asking around, you can find pictures of just about anything you want.

HEy jeegeet,
If you ask for member websites with pix you should get a bunch of replies. ALOT of the BF members have their lovlies on the the net. What I did was create a folder on my hard drive and whenever I see a Gee Whiz knife I download and save it. I know I know I may have an addiction but when Im bored on a saturday afternoon I run the slideshow feature on my graphics program and check them all out again. Some of them I plan on perhaps one day purchasing. Others (in the thousands of dollar range) I just like to look at because they are unique in some way. I study the craftsmanship and design. I think about what changes Id make and think about the day I become rich. All in all I must have about a hundred pix saved. Kind of like stamp or coin collecting. TO get you started I have some pix of my honeys at my web site.

WOW
I never thought of it like that, I think BF should have maybe a photo gallery somewhere that would be awsome......

Would you like to see a knife from every maker?
Historical knives? Production blades?
Sounds like a good idea to me!

Mike T. at one point mentioned doing something like that, I can't wait!

Alex,
I do the same thing, I collect photo's off the web and keep them in a folder. It seems like every day I add something new to it. I haven't tried that slide show idea yet, sounds great.
I have another file of just stuff from BladeForums, interesting threads, information like "Up and coming makers," and then just funny stuff, (Vampire Gerbil has his own folder) and correspondence with other members.
Then there's all the knife related web sites I have saved in my Favorites, well over 100 and still counting. It's a lot of stuff for the short time that I've had a computer, and the time I've been at the Forums.

Hi guys,

Thanx for replies. I collect pics from the Web too. The thing is they're often not too high res, just one angle shot, sometimes lighting sucks, etc. A cheap knife may look cool and a cool knife may look bad.

So what I'be been dreaming about is a gallery with all the real detail shown, and possiby made by some of us, with copyright donated to BF or something like that.

Hey all,
Someone mentioned this about a month ago, but it should be brought up again . . . If you haven't checked out PhotoPoint, you should--FREE web space for pictures, just email them the .jpg, .gif or .bmp as an attachment and it goes to your "album" (which you can subdivide). I got into it after seeing other members here display their knife collections AND the knives they dream about owning. Its a great way to share info about knives and makers!

After you get set up, remember to put the URL into the "Home Page" section of your member profile here, so we can see all the goodies!

Summerland. I just checked out your site, nice stuff. One piece stuck out yhat knife by Les Voorhies, I've seen some of his bigger knives at one of the Auction sites, probably Ebay. Les, seems to do a real nice job finishing his knives, (from what I can see by the photos). Would you or anyone else happen to know if he has a website? I don't need an address or phone #, I'd just like to look at more of his work.

TIA

The photos are nice, but if anyone's gonna make a huge picture database, I would like to know more information.

for the pictures you collect, you may not care about who made it, how long it is, what metals are used, weight, and any other stats that can be dug up, but others might care. I usually like to know the lenghs, weights, and sometimes metals used. most of the rest of the information could be conveyed my the image itself.

anyway, If you're gonna do it, you might as well do it right.
