What would be the Ultimate/Best Piggyback Busse to carry? Say along side a FSH or NMSFNO as far as a two knife setup. Meaning one big and one small. I know there's some hunters/backwoods guys around here, that may have experience in this senario. Any suggestions, and Sheath designs/systems would help also. Thanks in advance guys,

Definately pair it with a Culti....the FSH at .25 or NMSFNO stripped and fully convexed are hard to seperate....I like my own fully convexed job on the NMSFNO best .... the edge lasts longer and just makes a difference .... the culti is a dream for carcass work...especially inside ....

See Rainwalker's site for combo sheath designs....some nice leather ones there....

Thanks Peter, I'll have to check out Rainwalker's sheaths. I see alotta guys favor the Culti, sounds good. :) D,

I originally had a NMFBM with a Game Warden as my setup. I used it some and it was a little much for what I was using it for. I decided that an FSH would be a better large knife, but I still loved the Game Warden for the small. I think it is the best small skinning knife available from Busse. I EDC a BAD, but for in the woods I prefer the GW because I hunt and like a good belly on my skinning knives. I asked Chuck @ Chuddy Bear to make me a sheath for my HOGFSH that I could attach a pouch he made for me that held my leatherman and Skeleton GW. It is not a full time piggyback, but it also allows me to carry these tools in different configurations and I can carry either one by itself. The pouch has been getting some carry time because it is compact and holds knife and multi tool in one.

Jdraizor, That looks to be about perfect for what I'm wanting. Looks like a very well thought out setup. Thanks for the great photo's and advice. D,

Last year I used the Culti, Warden, Active Duty, and BAe for field dressing game, all performed pretty well but the BAe really shined. I had to go back for touch ups a few times per deer on all but the BAe. Pigs were the worst, I borrowed a knife that day.

One problem, I wouldn't want to carry a knife piggybacked by a BAe around for too awful long. Talk about heavy carry.

I'd definantely go with an AD for the small Busse but my ideal big Busse would be a sabre SFNO. I love my choiless TB but the SF handle is better for me compared to the TAC handle.

Seems most people prefer a small knife for hunting. I've used all sizes, and find it much more comfortable and natural to use a 4"-5" bladed knife, with less belly in the profile. Of course, I'm just field dressing, and skinning is a different matter, both in size and blade shape.

Like Dwayne said, when large and medium knives are paired, weight can be an issue. So, if I were to piggyback two blades, and both were Busse or kin, I think the ultimate combo may be a Basic 9 or Battle Rat with either a Bog Dog/Dog Skinner, S5, SS4, HRLM, or RMD. That would be a rig you can wear all day without hitching your pants up all the time, and there's pretty much nothing it can't handle.

Agreed 100% :D

SR101 is a great edge holding steel, especially for abrasive materials, and better yet its still a Busse family blade. In smaller blades it literally blows INFI out of the water, I didnt add the Rats to the list, but the Howler LM and RatManDu hold an edge light years longer, and the Hairy Carry slices like no other (well after I finally got the edge right) :)

The thing with piggy back sheaths is to make sure you don't catch the smaller knife with the larger one when trying to sheath it .... if the knives are razor sharp it is easy to mess a handle up .... let alone the sheath ....

Having just lost a matching ferro rod which teamed with a nice knife and fitted in a loop on the leather sheath because of needing to remove the knife from my belt when going back into my nearest town ....trying to avoid adverse Sheeple reaction ....and not noticing the rod dropping out .... my instincts now are to carry kit in seperate sheaths ...this was only a ferro rod .... I would have been gutted to have lost one of my favourite hunting knives.

I often use this two-some of knives for all round use as they are both very light.....

but always in seperate sheaths....and on a side note....both are in kydex which retains a good "snap" tight fit...my leather sheath which had the lost ferro rod in it is this one...

and I use it a lot in wet weather conditions because the knife is a good stainless steel...but the leather does "give" through use and this is what happened....so maybe having two seperate but matching sheaths might be best....and they would also carry better as well.

Yeah Peter, I can see where kydex would be superior to leather as far as keeping it's shape when getting wet. Leather just looks so nice, but kydex would be tougher. Say if you had to go swimming with your knife on, or in a severe downpour. Maybe I'll just have to get both, Thanks,
