Looks like I'm going to have a challenging 2008 with a lot of financial commitments so I'm going to sell one of my favourite Emersons, the ultimate pimped CQC7A. It's not easy letting this go (so many hands have gone into making this folder so special), but the funds are needed to counter the worst inflation to hit my country in 25 years.
If Ernie Emerson ever made a custom CQC7A with a plain edge, this would be how it would look like (AFAIK, he has only made one custom CQC7A, with a semi serrated blade, a long long long time ago).
Details:
3.25" handrubbed satin blade, almost zero ground on both sides (a very small secondary bevel was added for strength). Swedged like the original 7As (the new 2007 7As don't come with the swedge). Scary sharp and it cuts straight down, does not curve to one side like a chisel grind. The edge is also thinned, so it's a much more efficient slicer. Will pop hairs and sail through material like nobody's business.
Dual titanium liners, blasted.
Titanium Bolsters, dovetailed at 30deg and bevelled in front. Also scalloped at the bottom and has thumb dips, just like the actual customs done by Ernie.
Thick green canvas micarta handles, bevelled and sloped where it meets the bolsters. Contoured so it feels thick in the hand, just like the actual customs.
Special ridged green canvas micarta backspacer, with an arrowhead detail.
Blasted hardwear, except for the satin clip and the 2 screws holding the clip, again like the old skool customs.
Lock-up is to the left of tang, smooth opening and closing, detent is strong and very positive. Zero bladeplay. I also tested the lock-up by spine whacking on a padded surface so no scratches on the blade - no lock failure. Blade is perfectly centered.
A lot of work has gone into this folder, and the CQC7A was very hard to find...this is the 2003 model, with dual titanium liners.
Also included is the original black G10 scales, the black screws.
I'm looking for $XXXsoldXXX shipped, paypal fee included. If you've been looking for a very special Emerson but can't attend / haven't been lucky at the lotteries or buy the real deal customs at the aftermarket prices, then this is the next closest thing.
I'll let the pics tell all.
