I am trying to find something better than condoms and zip-lock bags. I like the platypus idea but the valves are what ruins it, also the plastic is a little too thick to fold very well. I have a MSR Hydration pack that is nylon coated on the inside with plastic and it is very flexible. Something like that with a very low profile closure device in about a .5 liter volume would be ideal. Unfortionately I don't think anyone makes anything like this. Any alternate ideas?

I have the same problem. the only solution I can come up with is to get some heat seal nylon and make one. I'm just to lazy to do it now. I always carry a canteen and S.S.
cup anyway.
i have used heat seal nylon before,it's easy
just seal with a clothes iron. I would make the bag flat with a roll top like a lifeboat bag. body about 8x10in (?) with a 3or4in.by 5in. neck should give you a good size bag.I would seal it at least a 1/2in. wide border
around the entire bag & neck. you could then sew it if you want and add a tie string for the neck(?).
The nylon does not cost much, less than $10.00 per yd. Frediver<><

What kind of places sell the materials for the nylon bags (nylon & stuff to seal the bags with), and is there anyplace online to get it for a good price? I was interested in making some watersealed stuff sacks - rather than paying a bundle for the ones in the camp shops...

Thanks,
-ZZ

you can get the nylon at various fabric stores. Some kite shops also carry nylon for the people that want to make their own kites.

Try outdoor wilderness fabrics
I use them alot, always good service. I don't have the web site I got to them using ask jeeves.
