Need to keep weight down in my pack so I'm looking for a really light weight knife with about a 3in blade. Modern style blade, no traditionals or opinel/mora suggestions please.. Suggestions greatly appreciated!

CRKT Eros, 3" blade, titanium framelock, IKBS flipper, weighs 1.3 ounces. So light I can't tell it is in my pocket half the time.

spyderco salt h1 in the size and blade type/shape of your choice. its just like an endura or delica with a rust proof blade. great to keep in your pack and never ever worry about water or snow rusting it on you. especially if your looking to use it for food prep

Benchmade Pardue is a verrry light knife although I am not sure if it will fit your purposes

Cold Steel Hold Out III. Very light and very tough. Plus it's affordable.

My current favorite lightweight 3" blade is a Benchmade Emissary at 2.2 oz. Love it.

I would second the motion on the Spyderco Salt 1. Super light with no liners. Absolutely water proof. Extra large opening hole makes it easy to open even with gloves on. Available straight or serrated.
I would go with the Yellow for visibility.

+1 CRKT Eros. Can't beat it for size/weight. When ultralight backpacking, a knife is more for tradition than direct use.
