ultrafine rods for sharpmaker

I recently order ultrafine rods from a seller on amazon.

They arrived in unmarked tubes and have red tips, are these the correct stones?

Also does anyone have any experience with them? what kind of results can i expect?

Whats the next step? a strop?

Hi Razorsdescent,

Yes, that is how the UF rods are marked on the ends. When you wash them try not to wear that off, or they will look a whole lot like your fine rods.

I have been using the UF rods for 5 + years and they really put a nice polish on the edge. You could go for a strop with compound after your done with the Sharpmaker. That would give you a very nice edge.

So just to clarify, You mean that it would have a 30 degree inclusive angle?

The angle is set by the slots in the base, not the stones themselves. If your rods are straight, the 30 degree slots will give 30 degree bevels and the 40 slots will give 40 degree bevels, inclusive.
