I got my UF Sharpmaker Rods a few days ago. With freight and customs charges, they cost me about 80 bucks.
I tried them on my straight razor, and found them to be quite good at this, since the razor only needed a minor touchup. In the video, Sal uses the fine ones, but I think these are more adequate for the job.

I'd be interested in hearing other peoples experiences about the UF rods.

I've had mine for a month. I really love them. They sort of make the fines less important. The edge I can obtain with them is really good. Better than anything I could do before the UF's.

In my book, they are tops.

I was perfectly happy with the edge I got with the fine stones. That is, until I got these ultra fines, and discovered another level of sharp. I think they make a great addition to the Sharpmaker.

I don't always go for a polished edge, for my uses a coarser edge often works fine. Spyderco sent me a pair of ultrafine stones to check out, and I love them to death. If you like a polished edge, I recommend these stones highly. I use them whenever I'm going for a razor polish.

Yup :)...for what I cut.., the fine stones are actually better. The Ultras are great if you want to do lots of push-cutting.., etc.., but I like having a more toothy edge...
