Hey everyone, only my second post here so bare with me... I have recently switched my edc tastes to the tiny and ultralight variety. These days an Emerson, ZT, or Sebenza just seem to weight me down. Most of my collection is tactical or bomb proof but I do have a Spyderco Ladybug that has found it's way into my pocket more and more. What are some other good options in the ladybug (or similar) weight class? I would prefer clip-less or removable clip, locking blade and one-handed opening under $150. Can't wait to hear your recommendations!
Cheers!

The lightest folder I've ever handled is the CRKT Eros - great size blade for the package it is.

A.G. Russell Featherlite and the Al Mar Ultralight Falcon are both great little knives that won't weigh you down.

CRKT Eros: 3" blade, 1.4 oz
CRKT Eros 2 (if you can find it): 2" blade, 0.7 oz

^Flippers, IKBS, titanium framelocks, and the pointiest blades ever (not necessarily a plus if you're looking for utility)

Have to agree with that. The Eros weighs in at about 1.6 ounces. The Ripple 1 and 2 are close: about 2.5 to 3.0 ounces. They are beautiful knives, if that helps any.

My other suggestion is the Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air. In the catalog at 1.2 ounces with an M4 blade. Awesome knife!

The Ladybug, of course is listed at .6 ounce and the Manbug another .05 ounces heavier.

The Dragonfly is a little heavier at 1.2 ounces. The Delica weighs in at about 2.5 ounces (lighter than the Ripple 1, actually).

The Benchmade 530 is listed at 1.88 ounces, and I really like mine.

The Kershaw Baby Boa is surprisingly light at 1.7 ounces.

The SOG Bluto, only slightly larger than the Baby Boa, is the heavyweight here at 3.2 ounces.

In contrast, a larger Mini Grip will run just over 2.5 ounces. Weird.

Another surprisingly light knife is the Benchmade 940-1, the carbon fiber version, at less than two and half ounces.

The walnut handled Mini Bone Collector in my back pocket is only 3.5 ounces.

There are other light knives out there, I just went through some of the ones I own personally and like.

Opinel, doesn't come any lighter. I can open mine with one hand easily and you will have enough to cash left over to buy a weeks supply of beer :-).

Dang you beat me to saying Opinel BJE. You must have expensive tastes on beer that's closer to 10+ years of beer for me. I'm cheap and I don't drink much, good thing too or else that cut into my knife budget. Now if we were to start talking about food that's a whole nother story, I'd spend $50 in the blink of an eye to try another beta testing on perfecting my teriyaki cheese burgers and probably another $30+ on the beer and I might just get 1 drink out of it because I think it would compliment the burger and you need company when you start talking about good tasting food as it makes it that much better.

All food and beer aside, get an opinel if you don't have one their cheap at around $10 and are superb slicers.

Kershaw Chive - 1.7oz, 2" blade, A/O flipper, framelock
SOG Flash 1 - 1.2oz, 2.375" blade, A/O thumb studs, piston lock
KaBar Mini Dozier Folding Hunter - 1.1oz, 2.25" blade, thumb studs, back lock
Gerber LST II - 1.3oz, 2.375" blade, thumb studs, back lock

Compared to the Ladybug - 0.6oz, 1.675" blade, thumb hole, back lock

Both the Chive and Flash also have a safety lock, which can be nice if you are carrying the knife clipless in pocket and might snag on other things in your pocket. The other small knives I have that are closer in weight to the Ladybug either are not one-handed opening or do not have a lock.

Spyderco offers the Gayle Bradley Air. The blade is 2.56" CPM-M4 in the wharncliffe shape. Stainless liner lock, weight is 1.27 oz.

I carry my CRKT Eros 3" most often when exercising. Great IKBS flipper action, SS blade & titanium frame lock are immune to the elements. Weighs just 1.5 ounces.

Spyderco Air by Gayle Bradley is a little big man with a great 2.5" M4 blade and solid titanium liner lock. Weighs just 1.3 ounces.

Look into the new Kiwi4 by Spyderco, mine is still on the way so I can't really say much about it personally, but seems like it will be one hell of a light EDC, don't know what you think of straight edges though...

@bob6794,
I was making a funny about drinking that much beer, $140 a week in beer is a little extreme, lol.
I do love some pumpkin beer though and those can get expensive compared to pabst blue ribbon.

Spyderco Salt.
Ka-Bar Dozier Lightweight folder.
And, the Para Military does work too!

Another Opinel vote.. if it's any lighter its unreal.

I prefer the #6 carbon

I just picked up a Spyderco Memory. Great knife, and very light/svelte for carry. Three inch blade, titanium and a little Carbon Fiber. Much, much lighter than some of the folders I was carrying. This one is good to go for anytime I need to dress like an adult.
