Can anyone post the Umfaan design pics for the last few years? It changes 1 time a year right? Thanks in advance...

this is the first time I'm trying to post a pic. By the way the Photo was that of another unknown forumite. iF it works, I do not deserve credit for it. I just thought it was a cool pic.

Thank you but I can not take credit for the photo or the collection. Another forumite posted this a while back. It was his collection, I just saved the Pic because I liked it. I am however, working on completeing my collection of Umfanns.

I'm carrying the third from the bottom; the one that is listed as 2001. Mine has 2000 engraved on the backside. ???

An Umfaan collection would not be complete without one of these...

It looks like my collection will be incomplete for quite a while. I have a plain, circles, and zig zag. No color yet! Maybe someday.:)

Do any of you know anything about the "Blue Circles" Umfaan?
How many were made? What are the worth? And most important, does anyone know where to get one, besides the one on Ebay?

Thanks,
Jason

I think around 40 were made. I bought a mint one about this time last year on knifeforums. After debating on whether to keep it mint or not, it's my EDC.

SAS, sweet multi-color.

The Umfaan was introduced in 1997 and, to make the range interesting, a different graphic (which was computer generated, not unique) was machined on the front face of the handle each year. The first 50 Umfaans, which were numbered and marked PP (for pre production) were made in around July of that year, and they had the circle pattern that was colored in a rainbow effect. The next batch, which was made during October/November, had the blue color. The rest of that year‘s production had the circles finished with a light bead blasted finish.

Danbo - I presume when you say the "backside" of your 2001 graphic Umfaan, you mean that 2000 is stamped inside the handle? A concept that is sometimes hard to grasp, if you're not involved in the production side of things, is how long it actually can take from a strip of titanium coming in the door to a finished knife going out the door! We machine handles (and blades) in batches so as to use the machining centers most cost effectively - this might mean that as much as four or six months goes by between the piece being machined and it being decorated/assembled/finished.

Thanks everyone, the PP Umfaan remains my favorite knife from CRK. I've got a Blue Circles version as well, and thought I had a picture of both together. I'll either find it or take a new picture next time I have the camera out.

Maybe CRK will consider issuing a short run of the Circles pattern on the upcoming new Umfaan to continue the tradition. I'll put my name on the waiting list...

Umfaans forever! I love them. I lost my first Zigzag Umfaan and I swore I wouldn't pay 3 bills for another, but I missed it so much I broke down and bought another Umfaan.

Lost my second Umfaan a year ago. Bummed out again - missed it every day. My Decorated Sebenza is pretty, but too big for pocket EDC especially in my business...airport management. Three months later I found it jammed beside my car seat, I was overjoyed! I've never been so attached to a knife.
