Hi..I should be in holland in the next few weeks on business could someone tell me were i can purchase a Umfaan .. Thank You.

I don't know the answer to your question. However, if you can pick one up for me, I'd be willing to pay extra for your trouble. ;)

Fred

You can pick them up in Amsterdam,in a store called "The Old Man".
I have to warn you though because they retail at around $750,- (no kidding!)
If there's one thing you don't want to buy in Holland,it's knives!!!

The adress is:
The old man,
Damstraat 14-16, 1012JM Amsterdam
Phone#: 020-6270043
Fax: 020-6272184

Good luck on your pursuit!

Yowie!! That is a painful price!!

I hear ya',TKC!!!
Knife-prices in Holland are totally blown out of proportion!!!:thumbdn:

Thank God there are a lot of fine forumites from abroad who are willing to help us poor Europeans get some nice knives at good prices!!!

in regards to my post above ... never mind. That price would be WAY out of my price range.

Fred

It's the same in all EU countries. Duty, tax, VAT... just we have to live with that. But at least there are some very fine & hard to find knives available.

BTW, if you're in Amsterdam "The Old Man" is a MUST!!! Well, Damstraat itself as a street is a must to visit in Amsterdam :D

Trust me...,they are in stock!!!
I'm in Amsterdam on a regular basis and they've had the Umfaans for years now.
(That makes sense since no one wants to pay that much for that knife.....,the Sebbies are even a $100,- more!!!:jerkit: )

Good luck though!!!

(Let me know if I can help you with anything! )

I am glad that you guys have us here! Man, that is amazign what they charge for knives!!

Yeah....,it's like Piter said.....,in the EU they add all kinds of duties, taxes and VAT to the retail-price,making it totally not worth it buying them in the EU!
I allready saved myself over $2000,- ordering them directly from the States!!!!

The US rocks!!!

Adola actually has 3 Umfaans left.
2 decorated ones, each with different design and stonewashed blades, and 1 plain jane version with polished blade.
I checked each one of those 3 days ago.
By the way, 1 is already spoken for......:D

I think that is a steep price for an Umfaan; $700+ dollars!! OUCHY!! I DO understand what you are saying though, as they are hard to come by. I guess if I HAD the money, I WOULD pay $700 for an Umfaan.

Indeed... the final question is about the wallet thickness. I've bought couple of knives for premium price only because they've been not available anywhere else. Good example would be my Spyderco Goddard in micarta, for which I paid about $150+ one day in small shop in Netherlands (Hilversum? medium town between Amsterdam & Eindhoven). But it was absolutely brand new and I wanted it so bad that I simply paid that. Ohhhh... that was a very very good day thanks to that cool purchase BTW :)
