HELP!!! I am trying to decide between these two beauties. I currently have a small Sebbie that I carry everyday, but I am in a suit everyday and would like something alittle more classy and possibly alittle smaller to carry and use during the "suited: work day.

I need to see pics of the two (Umfaan and Mnandi) side by side and your feedback on the 2 knives as far as "dressed-up" carry. Thanks-

Also a pic would be nice with them next to a Small Sebbie.

Much appreciated-
David

I'm sorry I don't have the capability to post a picture for you. But, I'll recommend the Mnandi as a clear winner over the Umfaan for dress carry. Additionally, I find the Mnandi a better cutter than the Umfann -- it has longer blade. The Umfann has one clear feature that may or may not be of signficance for you -- the blade is less than 2.5". The Mnandi blade is 2.75".

I know what you mean about the small Sebbie still being a bit too big and "hard" looking for the office/professional environment. I work for an NC state government/court agency so low key knives are my rule of thumb. My preference is the Mnandi (just bought my first this AM!! yea me!!!) The lack of a clip on the Umfaan pretty much disqualifies it for me. I don't like it riding in the bottom of my pocket. If you settle on the Umfaan get G2 to make you a pouch, maybe with a clip. As to your request for a pic, here's a previous thread that should do the trick. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=229743&highlight=Mnandi+Umfaan

Seeins how the Umfaan is discontinued, you might want to pick up one of those first. I recommend both, but the availability of the Umfaans might become an issue soon.

I carry the Umfaan almost every day in a suit pocket. Works great. It might not be as pretty as the Mnandi, but it feels stronger to me, despite its shorter blade. I'm not saying the Mnandi isn't every bit as strong, just that subjectively, the Umfaan seems like a little Sebenza and the Mnandi is something different.

I've carried my Mnandi daily as my suit and tie knife for over a year. It feels more like a piece of high end jewelry that the tough as nails knife that it is.

The wood gives it a look of class and acceptability in "polite" circles.
