Here is a tool I have been playing with for a few days...I decided to add the hex so that I would have an all in one feel for it. I have another idea for a different shape that I might play with a bit more. What do you think?

Looks great! I mean really, really great! Maybe it's just me, but I have a strong feeling that this will be the only tool that incorporates the Allen wrench as well. What a design!

Thanks! I'm not sure what Chris has up his sleeve as far as a tool. This one works really well in it's 1st revision, but I am working on an additional design or two in the near future. Really depends on my workload with college, not to mention the full time job. Speaking of college....I have some novels to read.

BTW, I think that "where is the tool" issue is now officially over ;)

Wow! Thanks Piter! I am flattered to hear this from you. I have seen many of the things that you came up with and never cease to be impressed by your ingenuity! I originally made four of these because CNC's have only incremental time for each additional piece. I was so excited about receiving my Umnum, that I decided to give away the 3 remaining pieces for the cost of shipping and they went out today to the gents that requested them (they are minus the hex except 1) . I then made an additional 4 with the hex feature...Basically gaging interest in them. Enuff interest would help me to make the decision to build these in numbers...Or, if Chris and Anne want the design...I would give it to them. They have only to request the CAD file. They are pretty simple to make and don't require alot of machine time.

BTW- If anyone wants the extras that I built, pm me- They are relatively cheap.

oh boy I knew these would become famous and collectable... seeing as I own one of the only 4 prototypes in existence... I'll consider selling it to the right collector for the very reasonable cost of $7,500 :D
actually no.. I think I'll keep this one! I'll take some pics when the mailman forks it over

I'll take one. Nice work.

This can be arranged....PM me

that is really cool. i'm the lead grinder at CRK and i want one. i'm showing that to Chris tomorrow.

This also can be arranged...You can either PM me or I can take it over to the shop...Nice to be so close to Chris...Dangerous to the pocketbook too!

that tool is really cool. Too bad I don't have access to CNC... but I try to do what I can with "analog" old-school tools. Sometimes it works as well :D

Like I`ve (jokingly) mentioned earlier, I would be interested in one. If theres one left, please let me know.

There have been questions on these tools that I think I probably should answer here.

I have been asked about using 2 of these to dismantle the Umnum by more than a few people. From my experimentation with making my own the answer is no. I found it cumbersome to use two tools for this task. It was easier for me to use one and to merely apply pressure to the other with my thumb. They really are not that tight from CRK.
Thus I have only shipped single tools to individuals.

The material that I used to make these was 6061 T6 - I used this because it was sitting around. No real good reason to use it other than that anodize would be kinda cool to do albeit cost prohibitive in small quantities.

At some point I would probably consider using Delrin. (plastic)

Akubra- I have done one other international shipment and it was a pain to do. Usually it is cost prohibitive, but hey- if you want to take care of that- that is fine.

Let's please try to keep the sale type discussions in PM out of respect for the forum and CRK.

Thanks!

I`m still interested-unfortunately the PM feature does not work for me though (free membership here). Please email me at nm(@)malermeister-mueller.de.
Thank you!
