Got my Umnumzaan today thought I'd share it with you guys along with my small Sebenza. I'm working on my collection maybe one day I will have a nice collection like some of you.
 
Very nice. I'm envious. I've been eyeing them for quite a while, but never pulled the trigger. Now you need a Mnandi to round off your collection.
 
I love my zaan. It has the smoothest action of any knife I've ever owned. Thumb flicks open like lightning with very little effort. I gave mine the scotch brite treatment too and it looks awesome!
 
My first CRK was a Zaan. It's my favorite blade-shape and very comfortable grips. I never carry it; cannot close it one-handed. Why did Chris give us so MUCH lock-bar thumb-room on the Sebbie and so LITTLE on the Zaan? One day, perhaps, I'll buy him a coffee and sit down and ask him that question.
 
New pivot does have a higher lockbar tab for sure. Old pivots don't. Just practice and train your thumb and you will be used to the old pivot small lockbar tab in no time.
 
Heck, closing is a breeze, I'm still trying to trin my thumb to get the really nice flick opening!
 
I almost always close my knives with 2 hands anyways and I actually prefer a really strong lockup. The older Zaan locks will not be an issue to me IMO.
