I've wanted to ask this for a while, and figured a poll would be nice to see as well.

For all you Zaan fans, which blade style do you prefer, and why?

I voted regular(all ive ever had)

Tanto is awesome looking though.

Regular and that swedge is mighty sharp, enough to do some easy cutting tasks. The regular is a beautiful blade unique blade shape in itself.

I've got both, rotate them. I don't have a preference between the two.
If the 25 ever comes out with a tanto, I'd be all over it. I just recently got into tanto's and they are useful blades even though I used to think they weren't

Mmmm; if it is your first CRK, a regular; if you already have a 21 or 25, get a tanto. The regular is almost identical shape to the 21 and 25, just a little more pronounced belly; and the tanto looks mean to me; but if you don't have any 21s or 25s then get a regular; I agree, it is a more useful shape for daily tasks; of course whether you get a regular or a tanto, you will want another one later just because they are so addictive, so get what you like best. My two cents. I want a tanto.

I can never decide...the regular does have the harpoon swedge which is nice, but I think the tanto looks great on the Umnumzaan...

Maybe these will help:

If you are only getting one, you want that harpoon point that is only on the Standard umnum blade, simply because it is a design highlight of the model, and sorta defines the Umnumzaan in a way.

Although the standard harpoon blade has grown on me I'm voting tanto all the way.

It's no more difficult to sharpen, the slight belly is nice, and the stouter tip lends itself to the hard use image of the knife.
Although I find the swedge on the standard very useful for ripping open boxes I like that it's removed from the tanto, I prefer the smoother lines of the tanto when closed.

I voted regular blade shape because I like the Harpoon blade.
I like the Tanto on the Zann better than on the Sebenza, but I still favor the Harpoon.
Also the Tanto blade shape is not all that useful to me. I have had many tanto blades over time, but never seem to warm up to them. The only one I have now is a BM 760 Lum Tanto.

And so the tanto doesn't get all the photo love
